Minature Switzerland

thats some set up... liked the moveing cars!

Looks well doesn't it?

Nice. Trains look like they are running a bit fast tho :)

I went there in 2009, and it is stunningly good. It is situated just south of Lugano, almost on the Swiss/Italian border.

At that time the full-size Landwasser Viaduct on the RhB was undergoing major work and was wrapped in scaffolding and red "fabric" to protect the workers. To reflect reality the miniature version received the same treatment!

Fantastic. I like the airport. I've added it to my places to visit list!

Looks like fun (apart from the slightly creepy squirrel in the Panzer uniform.... ;)) - what scale are the trains, Gauge 1? A lot of the stock doesn't look like LGB, so I'm guessing it might be Marklin 1?

Jon.

The blurb says it's modelled to 1:25 scale:

I went there in 2007 as part of my Swiss Railway Tour (day 5)
http://swissrail.blogspot.com/

The standard of modelling on the buildings was very high but I was slightly disappointed by the railway which in essence is a series of independent loops with some unprototypical trains running on them. Potentially, though, there would be a lot of scope for someone who is savvy to revamp the rail system there - fancy retiring to the Italian lakes?

Of course, things may have changed since 2007

I went last year, and I can say its one of the best model villages I've ever been to. The very best, in my view, is still Madurodam, but Swisminiatur is a good second. Mrs Steam loves castles and there are plenty of those, so this is the first time she's spent all day at something like this.... A few shots:
