So before you admonish me for being unknowledgeable about our own forum, what does the number beside the word, "Media" mean ? For that matter, what is the media ? When I click on it I see photos. Pretty much a varied assortment of photos from various members.

The number is the number of pictures not viewed in the media album, click on one of the pictures and it should open up larger and the number should go down by 1.

OK, got that bit now, thanks - but how do the pictures get in the 'Media' section?

Also, if you do not wish to view each individual photo, or if the subject does not appear to be of interest, you can click on 'Mark Media As Read' to get rid of the number box. To add your own photos to Media, click on the green box 'Add Media' You will want to create an Album, or Albums, to keep your pics together. You can search the list of other members albums to find something of interest. I have three Albums, I make no apology for the plug, the main one being David's Pic of the Day, into which I place the pic that I post on the Coffee Lounge each day. This Album now contains almost 1,200 assorted pics, as I like to say, there should be something of interest for everyone. You can also create links back to the Albums from posts, as below

Though both wandgrudd wandgrudd and David1226 David1226 are correct, I find it is not as intuitive as it could be to get photos into your own album, and can take practice.
