Wow! Those seriously large FR locos caught my eye! Where are they? Beautiful!

I *think* James wants to know where they have sold the large-scale FR outline loco's too..

Like the rest of us, he can't afford one, but wants to go and drool!

I was curious, so I clicked on the link. I saw they had a second hand listing and to my delight they had a Whizzy Cranks in what appeared to be in near mint condition for what I considered to be a very reasonable price. I have lusted after one of these for years so took the plunge. Maxitrak staff could not have been more helpful. Having made the purchase it arrived the next day.

Although it is in beautiful condition it is actually a slightly older version than I realised so chipping it is not going to be as straight forward as I thought. I have a brand new LGB 55027 decoder that I bought some time ago on Evilbay so I guess I need to drop a line to Muns to find out what adaptor leads/connector thingies I need to be able to fit it. I have never attempted to chip a loco before. The picture below is the new pride of the Claptowte Railway, or will be once chipped.

I saw that loco too David, although I already have one that I purchased from the CFR a few years ago.

I fitted the Massoth L decoder to mine (it already had sound) which was relatively easy to do as only 4 screws hold the body onto the chassis. It was a very simple job to fit the chip as it came with a complete wiring harness that fitted to both motors.

Enjoy your new purchase; they are like hen's teeth to find these days....
 
We could probably do a complete thread on these, as there must be many ways to modify them?
 
3 or 4 pin block will be the most significant part of decoder fitting I expect.
 
PITA if you want to add sound, and keep the analogue board.. You have to space the old board away from the chassis to get space for the speaker!
 
Interesting movie. A few points no yellow vests and the trains do not appear to have any form of braking other than on the Loco. From what I have been seeing in UK lines mostly appear to have a through braking system and it would appear to be pretty well mandatory in many instances reading the following (see page 12).

The locomotives would appear to be pretty large, but at that Gauge (10.1/4") they would be about 1/2 size. Not sure if they are quite that big so perhaps Maxitrack is using the flexible LGB ruler. Bloomin nice though, if only I had the money and space. Though my choice would be 12inch or 18inch Gauge and Irish Narrow Gauge Prototypes at 1/2 or 1/3 size.

Quite, looking at sundry Vids of Chineese Coal Mines and other Railways HnS does appear to be regarded with no interest whatsoever. Perhaps that is why Chineese Products are so inexpensive.

Well, with the size of population they have, a few casualties here and there, is probably classed as 'job creation'..
I thought Chinese products were cheap, because 5% of the makeup is soil?? - Well their metal tools seem to be!
