nice pic from railhead height of the wagons....
Well its been a very long time since getting anything done on the railway, having barely used it throughout last year. After a visit to g-rail the other weekend the enthuiasm has been sparked again and trains have been running for the last week 
First things first though, some changes are afoot...
The section where the railway splits into two levels is finally going to go. The change in height for the outer line has always caused problems and just never looked all that good. So the plan is to level the outer line so that it runs level with the inner line.

Well some building work has began, which unfortunatly means having no railway to run until it`s finished!
Started with the removal of some big trees last weekend...

Well lots more work has been done over the last couple of days. Got blisters on my hands from all the screws :
Started by moving the `front` of the railway forward about 10 inches so that it now sits level with the wall, giving more room on top to add more platforms and buildings.
Once the front was completed work carried on around the corner towards the step..
Also fitted the extra decking along the front where the railway has been extended to the fence..
So today came the step, which turned out to be almost an entire rebuild rather than the simple job i expected, but it looks much better for it now...

Such lovely weather these last couple of days meant trains had to be run, so a temporary board was set up to allow the tracks to be rejoined...
Decided that rather than running the track around the pond again, another bridge will look much nicer, so were curremtly in the process of designing a metal girder bridge to span the 5 foot gap..

Well plenty more work has been done, mostly wiring and such but still progress has been made...
Got the new control board built, just awaiting painting
Along with the switch box which i finally figured out (with much help!) how to wire it all up...
Lastly today i made a start on the island platform...Need to get another 8` strip of plastic right angle which will then finish it all off ready for ballasting.

And then out in the shed, some decent stock shelves have started to appear (including new bargain ebay wagon bottom left)
It was all going so well until i ran out of wood!
Shelves will eventually continue around onto the empty wall too

Moving on, the change of track plan meant that trains could run straight over the pond rather than around it. Buying a metal bridge worked out far too expensive, making one from the materialS available from B&Q worked out cheaper but far more complex...Then my dad came across these 2 offcuts of 8` Metal strips from work. Will make a good head start on the bridge
