Not sure how many of you will have one of these. I lucked out around 6 or 7 years ago at GRS in Princess Risborough. They had one in Second Hand at a very good price so I bought it, was a no brainer really. I used it for stuff on my old line in Hemel and it has been used quite a bit on the new line. However every time I come to use it, (of necessity these things do not get used that often) I completely forget which way round I need to use the thing. So in the last day or so when doing some alterations to my Fiddle Yard, I decided to add some help. The following picture shows the Graffiti that will help the next time I need to use it.

The Curve shows the way that Track will be bent when plonked on the Rail.

Of course if the Rail is curved and you need to Straighten it plonk it on the other way!

Hope this helps,
JonD

I bought mine full price from GRS a couple of years ago. I found the receipt the other day :o
But it is a great piece of kit, and this mod will make sure that all bends are right first time, every time.

Gentlemen, can I pick your collective brains on these devices please?

1. Can you bend to (near-enough) the end of a piece of rail?
2. Do you think they would work with Peco code 250 rail? - This appears to be nickel-silver ?? so may be more difficult to bend ??
3. Is it possible to make a transition curve with these? - Perhaps by winding on curve as you feed the rail through the device?
4. Having never seen one in the 'flesh'. do they work on a single rail, or a length of track? - I presume one rail at a time.

Many thanks,
PhilP.

A - This is a bit Tricky, but if the Rail End is clean and the fishplates not damaged in any way. Yes with care.

2. Do you think they would work with Peco code 250 rail? - This appears to be nickel-silver ?? so may be more difficult to bend ??

A - I use Peco Track with mine, the Rollers are different for Peco and LGB Sized Rail. I got lucky in that mine already had the correct Rollers for Peco g Scale Track. Perhaps that was why it was such good value. Possibly needs more passes than a Soft Brass Rail. But it does work on NS OK.

3. Is it possible to make a transition curve with these? - Perhaps by winding on curve as you feed the rail through the device?

A - To do Transition, just start at one end, bend that as required then move on a bit and change the setting. The Screw is Calibrate so you can see the difference of the Curve you are making. You do need to make a few passes on each part that you bend.

4. Having never seen one in the 'flesh'. do they work on a single rail, or a length of track? - I presume one rail at a time.

A - It bends both Rails on the length that you are working on.

Many thanks,
PhilP.

Hope my answers help.
