Hi all,
Is any one else having any programming problems with Massoth LS decoders?

The DCC Programmer software will read and write to the decoder, but the service tool fails to see the decoder at all..
I have tried an XLS, and I can load programs to that fine, it is just LS decoders which are not recognised.
TIA,
PhilP.

What software are you using Phil.

Alan,
'Massoth Service Tool v1.3

Mohammed,
Will try that a little later.. Will report back.

Well 'go to the foot of our stairs!' - where does that come from??

Mohammed, many thanks (I think).. motor is 'chugging' away, so will see if the software 'takes' when it finishes..

Many thanks,
PhilP.

The DCC Programmer software now discovers the LS decoder as an XLS. - Logical, seeing as I have loaded it with an XLS sound-file.

I have yet to put this in the loco, but am hopeful it will work.

Some LS decoders inadvertently had the (read only) decoder type CV set incorrectly to that of an XLS and thus will only take XLS sound files. I would tell you what CV and values but cant recall atm.

The LS with XLS file(s) loaded works, so many thanks..

Mark,
It would be nice (useful) if you could find the 'read only' decoder type CV, and values??
Please?
TIA,
PhilP.

So was it the 'decoder type' CV that was set incorrectly?
OR,
Is there a 'read only' CV as well?

Interestingly, there does not seem to be a manufacturer id listed for Marklin? - Unless they were originally one of the other German names?

Hi PhilP
Are you sure your Massoth Service Tool v1.3 is the latest version? Massoth has issued mid of October a new software version combining the old Massoth Service Tool and the PC Module programming software. Look at the Massoth website. Now all the sound files are available in one download (270Mo !)
Regards
Bruno

Thanks for that Bruno,

I (should) have the latest version, but not of a combined tool..
As for 'all' the sound files in one download, as I deal with many different versions of the decoders, I need differing iterations of sound file for certain firmware revisions.
Loading the XLS version got me out of trouble, though the LS decoder now thinks it is an XLS of course!

I have still not been able to ascertain which bit of which CV is the read-only bit.

I believe new Maerklin decoders come as id 131 Trix. That's what my newish V100 has factory installed.

Phil its not a "bit" in a CV that marks it as Read Only, its the firmware that will not act upon changes requested to specific CV's that are deemed to be Read Only, or in the case of CV 7, perform other actions such as reset groups of CVs to default values.

The latest version of the Service Tool is v2.0 and replaces both Service tool 1.3 and the CV programmer software.

As mentioned earlier, CV255 indicates the Massoth decoder type:
