If your stay extends to the 3rd/4th July the London transport depot museum outstation at Acton (v near the tube station) will be open !I'll be in London next week. I may or may not have time to visit something rail-related. If I do, what are my options?
Shops, museums, places of interest, whatever.
(I already know about the London Transport Museum.)
Thanks.

That sounds just right, I'll keep it front of mind.Or ride the docklands railway, especially if you can sit in the front seat
Dang, I distinctly remember sitting there with my parents in the Summer of 1985.Borough Market
The best of the LT transport museums, you will love every bit of it. Come back soon to ride the "'38 tube stock" on a full trip, or as you will see there, the hopefully soon to be commissioned "Q Stock" set (memories of as a small child going to school in the '60'sThanks, I already booked that![]()
Apparently that's the place where all the technical stuff is kept - we have a volunteer on the CMR who works for them. Thanks, I already booked that![]()

Yes, both great and sympatheticly restored termini. Now do you know the link between St Pancras station and those bright red telephone kiosks, and near where I live ? You could even do an UndergrounD tour of all the great large London termini, add Liverpool Street, Victoria (a 2 in one terminus bonus), Waterloo and Paddington. Charing Cross though small is interesting too. Perhaps a little "hard core" but if you like historic railway architecture why not ? MaxSt Pancras and Kings Cross sttions are worth a look round. How are you getting here, driving or Eurostar?
Eurostar. And I already have my Oyster Card. How are you getting here, driving or Eurostar?

Best way, it costs more than a flight to get from the airports to your final destination. Just avoid leaving from Paris!Eurostar. And I already have my Oyster Card.
A different ‘need to know’ Mobile Phone theft is currently endemic in London. Best not to use in in any public space, if you do go inside a Shop or somewhere safe. Also I like to have zipper pocket trousers when in London to keep my wallet and phone safe from light fingers.Eurostar. And I already have my Oyster Card.
Thanks for that, I have several pairs of trousers that are great for this. I'll be sure to wear one of them.A different ‘need to know’ Mobile Phone theft is currently endemic in London.
