Live Steam Accucraft K-27 On Rockery Ridge

Had a chance today to steam up the K-27 for it's first outing on Rockery Ridge :bigsmile:
Things didn't start off well thou had trouble keeping both burners alight one just kepted going out looking down the tubes the flame was only glowing orange :wits:
The weather was sunny but there was a chilly wind so then i remembered about the warm water in the tender this did the trick before long the engine was blowing off and racing round my line :thumbup:really need radio control Sara said i looked like a school boy running round the garden :rolf:

Cheers Nico :clap: On the down grades i had a job to slow the loco will fit radio control when i get some funds . Only had one area where the loco derailed and that was due to uneven track with a bit of track maintence all was fine :thumbup:
 
Nice running there Richie....an RC setup would be the icing on the cake.
 
Cheers Mike will try the loco next time with some freight cars which will add some more weight and maybe hold the loco back .
 
garden looking really good rich,,,, loco seems to cope ok with the curves even at speed!!
 
Nice one, Richie - You're right, RC makes life a lot easier, especially when running at ground level.
 
Nice shots and video. Looks like she's running like a train :bigsmile:. Still amazed at how tight a curve those mikes can handle...... and at speed!

My K-28 is in with Chuffed2Bits having R/C fitted right now. Just on the reverser as like other Accucraft products it uses piston valves. Should be a simple fit and a control for the regulator can be added later if needed. If it will help with your planned installation I will let you know how I get on with this set up.

Also having the draincock levers modded, so they don't fall off. Also the jets swapped for Ronson #6's and a syphon from the boiler for tender water heating to minimise risks of one burner opereation.

Excellent!!! Yes rc needed so it becomes less east coast mainline. The trouble with a heavier train it has worse effect on the downhills!

It's amazing how a loco this size handles those curves and at speed the only problem i encountered was on the track crossing the path which was uneven due to found that the rear pony truck would come off and jam on the curve as can be seen in one of the video shots the loco comes to a holt but after sorting the track i had no more problems :thumbup: One of the drain cock levers dropped off so will now stay off on the open position . Let me know how you get on with the R/C hope to get mine done next year .

Just for the record, the Accucraft K27's & K28's are slide valve not piston valve.

My first part of my garden railway was built at the top of the garden 18' X 16' and fenced off from the kids as i had a pond this is now my logging line:bigsmile: but once the kids got older and stopped playing football i was told i could build a line round the garden a long the edge of the lawn :thumbup:
