I am going to attempt to make it look a little better. We will see. It runs good and it was free to me . So here we go.. I had a extra lil haulers cab so I wanted to see how it looks on it. I also am painting it black. It's one of the blue and burgundy ones .. I think I like the way it is going to look.

Jack, it's a good looking engine from the factory, but the drive sucked if it still has the out side gear system. You've made it look 20 years newer, nice job. I used the cab, smoke box and other parts to make my little "Rosy" tank engine. The cylinder and drive bar I used on my sawmill steam engine to power the belts.

Had to put an LGB drive under it because the gears would jump a tooth just out of the blue. In it's later years before the lit bash I would run it with one of the drivers unscrew from the drive bar to keep it from locking up when the wheel would come out of quarter. I've got another one that looks brand new and think I will try and make a mason bogie out of it. So if you ever what to sell the old cab let me know, I'll take it and it would keep me from having to try and make 1 more window for it

Here is picture of and cab drawing of a Mason Bogie, kind of like an over sized Forney, Mason designed these powerful engines to work on narrow gauge and was able to negotiate tight curves by articulating the drivers and having them pivot. Mason engines should be "beautiful, a thing of beauty"

as well as functional. Notice the window openings, quite a pretty engine, I've got an LGB Spreewalt that I'm going to use for the drive and still have my eye out for a six wheel truck.

Got a bit done today another rainy day. I cut out the fake wood on the tender and cut some real wood and found this figure . Did a little more painting to. View attachment 237773 View attachment 237774 View attachment 237775
Yes I also use real wood, usually elm as we have a small 1 in the yard, but I don't think mine looks near as good as what you used, the bark is really great. Hope the drive works for you as that is now a very sweet looking engine, Bill

Thanks. I shipped a bunch of small logs from my property in Maine. 45.00 dollars to ship them to Florida . Lol now thats crazy.

Worked on the bash some today. I had to cut a piece of plastcard for where the boiler and cab join. And I had a bachmann engineer so I painted his clothes and stuck him in there too . I bcut strips of wood and made window frames for the cab. Added a bell from my parts bin. I think it's going to be pretty cool when it's done.
