LHRR Equipment (formerly "The Boxcar Project")

A couple things got done in the warmth of the sun yesturday.
I painted the body of my Henrietta coach. Unfortunately, I didn't do a great job filling in holes, so it looks like I'll have to take another step backwards. But, I am learning!

This photo also showcases the recently repainted roof and completed chassis. I removed everything from the chassis, including the original running boards (cut them off) and painted the buffer beams red.

I also began final painting of my Piko 25 tonner. Next week, Ill do the top half.

Henrietta is nearly done!

I finished the chassis the other day. Technically the steps are part of the chassis, so I guess that's not true. I had to wait to attach those to make sure they were centered between the end of the body and the buffer beam. Speaking of, this buffer beam now looks like Henrietta's, rather than Bachmann's version of Annie/Clarabel.

Aaaaand, today I got all the bits for the railings 3D printed and test-fit in place. I took this photo while the last piece was printing still...
As one can see, I did go back and fill in more dents in the body. I was hoping to paint this today, but it's too darn windy outside. She's looking good!

Project(s) complete!

I am so happy to finally say that I have completed my Henrietta.I actually finished her a few days ago but I've been too tired to take a decent photo. Even this I'm not super happy with...

The railings on the ends are 3D printed, everything else is done by hand. One of the four gates actually swings!
I had to replace the original glazings with clear styrene that I added scotch tape to for the frosted look.

In addition, though I forgot to install the couplers, my Tandem box car is also finished! If I haven't said it yet, this is where I work. It's a bagel cafe in Massachusetts. I showed a photo of the car to the operations guy the other day and he thought I hand-painted it all!

All-in-all, I'm not super happy with water-slide decals. Is there something I should be doing after applying them? They're super obvious still.

Well done, next time I am out that way I may stop in

Its been a while, so I figured I'd give an update before I set aside all hobby projects in favor of wedding prep.

First, I have several models now live on MakerWorld, for those of you interested in 3D printing. I also have a more complete list on my website, which also includes my how-to guides for both my 3D printer designs, and styrene projects. Second, and this will become obvious in a moment, I have begun watermarking my images since, apparently, it is common for designs and images to be stolen off MakerWorld. But, I use it because it interfaces with my printer and it's easy.

Now for the stock...
My Old Sac box car is looking pretty good. It's all painted up and mostly reassembled. I have to apply the mask and paint it. This will be post-wedding. I am missing the bottom guider pieces for the doors. Not sure where they got off to, but I'm hoping they're just hiding somewhere.

My Tandem Bagel box car is finished! I've even got some details inside it, which I'm really happy with.

Henrietta is long since done & Toby has gotten some more good mods. No photos of Toby yet, but here's the coach... I expect to be running at least Henrietta and Toby at a show in two weeks!!

Beyond that, most of my hobby time has been spent working on various models with my 3D printer...

3D printed rail bike (currently not sure how to get this to run on its own)
20250421_143829.jpg

assorted signs & signals (there are others that aren't pictured such as a Dwarf 2-light signal)
20250420_083142.jpg

Rail plates, both single- and double-rail

And here's a better photo of the details in the Tandem car. The bread crates and syrup jugs are printed, the apples in back are clay, pallets and apple crates are styrene.

I've also been working on 3D printable archbar bogies/trucks, a three-link coupler for Thomas & Friends stock, and I am slowly making progress on turning my 25 tonner into Providence & Worcester #150.

If anyone is looking for any of these files or projects, they're all up on my website! If something doesn't work, please reach out directly.
