I think one of our former regulars managed to find a kit of one of these. Formerly a mostly Eastern Block locomotive that has found use on sundry 750mm preserved lines.

Indeed, that would be from BlauTurm. After a crash of his PC all data for the CNC mill was lost.

EdGB also has one in his program: Faur LH45

Against all expectations, LGB now produces all kinds of models that have been on the wish list of many for years, but which were previously not considered a commercial success, or were too expensive for an injection molding process,

But they have to because these are the models that can still be produced in reasonable numbers, because in the model train world, narrow gauge remains a nice market. That is why the old LGB already brought standard gauge models onto the market before 2006 because they were already having difficulty with sufficient numbers for injection molding.

Sorry if I offend others, but YAWN ! There are so many items they could produce, they could start with looking at what was successful at Kiss before their now 2nd demise.

It would certainly be a novelty of they produced something that is within the reach of people with limited means or give people the option of reducing the price by having an " Analogue" version
They will likely never make another 'analog-only' locomotive again because of the size of the market in smaller scales for digital is large and a digital-enabled loco can also run in analog, so it reduces their skews, architecture, and components to a single set.

It is naive to expect that every announcement will be a model that any particular individual personally wants.

One of these locos was used by Furrer + Frey (an infrastructure contractor) on RhB, as Gmf 4/4 90.

Oh one that runs on Meter Gauge. Had a derisory look to see if I could find out more in English but not much of use.

Im talking about updating current models in there range to re-brands ,modern logos, special paint schemes etc (im considering Marklins tooling costs ! ) .... Some random Diesel engineering loco will appeal to a limited few with deep pockets (pension schemes I will only ever dream of) so understand why they are doing this and it will sell out.

So I will just have to wait for the deceased estate auction sales in 20 years time. Im afraid LGB will be lost to a 15 year old in their bedroom producing locos with the latest 3d printer, that's if the 15 year old isn't too busy having woopie with an online AI bot and visits his railways via a VR world !

I do think there is room for a middle market, I mean Piko can produce this with probably less detail and Finnish for £560, which to a lot of people will be very delightful.

maybe if generic chassies and boggies were used as so many people just like the aesthetics of a logo rather than the "fine" detail,

But upon reflection your right, I am naive they just sqeezing the "deep pockets" market while the money is still flowing and a gap has opened up since the likes of Kiss disappeared/split

Part of the problem is that we're not moving with current times.

When 00/HO locomotives are coming out at prices north of £300, then the 1,300 Euro price on a G scale loco is not disproportionate. Having said that, sure, it'd be nice if they were cheaper.

"The Simba Dickie Group reported strong performance with improved profits and a 5.4% increase in consolidated total turnover to €711.7 million in 2024. The company described its earnings and financial situation as "good and very solid" in its 2024 report, indicating healthy and stable financial performance despite global challenges."

Well the owner of Marklin isnt struggling to make money !

Bit like when i "looked" into my local vets, after they tried to get me to put my then cat onto a "diabetes" diet and jabs costs ££££££s a year (probably caused by an addiction to high protein and sugary whiskers), the local vets were part of a Massive European vet group, and the prospectus for the shares said "we work in a market where our customers will pay ANYTHING for our services, so will remain profitable for the near future"

There is good info here

Even thou the contractor Sersa uses the old Sand depot, a bit of modelers license and a Furrer-Frey MOW loco siting there would be very nice indeed.

Whilst at danger of moving into banned political debate, I have come to the conclusion that that the democratic, capitalist society is probably the least worst of all options.

But back to Marklin et al, when they introduce a new model they do so at risk - sure they will have done their research in order to minimise the risk. One of the difficulties is that our G scale market is small and fragmented (because G scale can be virtually anything running on 45 mm track).

Thanks Stewie, I suspected it was a conversion of a 760mm gauge example but not via such a complex route.
