lgb mullett n R1?

hiya lads , i only have R1 on my layout in the garden, would the lgb mullett work ok on them?

Hi Glen (olly).
All LGB locs will do R1s. A couple of the big ones are a bit tight and not recommended for continuous use on R1s but the Mallet will be fine.
The two that are a bit tight are the Mikado (spelling?) and the Harz 2-10-2. These both have articulated chassis and the R1s can strain them over time.

As Alan says above, all LGB locos should handle R1s - because from the very early days of LGB, the firm decided that everything they produced must follow the "R1 Rule", in that it must run on their tightest radius curves. Of course, that doesn't mean that the bigger locos (or the longer rolling stock) will look very sensible on tight radii, but that's all down to aesthetics rather than functionality.

they run fine and look pretty good doing it-
have 2 german and one US -all lgb-
all work really well
quite a swing of the front set of drivers from under the boiler
no drag or slowing

get one-theyre magnificent

But you need special fishplates.....
