Was going to buy a few LGB 12070 supplementary switches. Found someone selling a number of LGB 12030 switches quite cheap. Is there any fundamental difference between the two models?

The two are functionally the same, double-pole, double-throw switches that attach to the EPL switch motors. I only have personal experience with the older 12030 model. I have some I bought many moons ago when analog block control was de regueur. The "upgraded" 12070 has redesigned mechanics for throwing the switches. Perhaps the new model exerts less drag on the switch motor. I've got a 12030 attached to one of my 10560 uncouplers to turn on the light mast when the ramp is up. It works fine. If you are curious, the older 12030 still works with the latest EPL drives. The most recent EPL drive throw bars still have notches that engage the older supplementary switch microswitches.

The 12030 switches use a custom-made toggle-switch, while the 12070 switches use a commercial micro-switch which means it could be made smaller. I suspect the micro-switch version probably has a higher current rating, but otherwise both models are functionally identical
