Ebay purchase which turned out to be too big to fit in with my trams.

Would be interested to know what the prototype was for this guards' van - I have one seen here in the background that I reworked to make it less European (and I don't think the US ever had anything like this - let alone vacuum braking for the era).



LGB being a bit creative with the branding perhaps?

(They are a nicely built van however).

Hi Paul,

whilst I agree there is a prototype to everything (like the double slip in the yard at Pichi Richi railway in South Australia with one track that goes nowhere) I don't think you will find a European style guards' van with vacuum braking anywhere in the US - despite LGB labeling it Short Island Railroad for the US market.

I don't think the Short Line RR line ever existed? I cannot find it in Lucius Beebe's "Mixed Train Daily" book which seems to cover every short line in the US.

It is a Bobber minus the Capula, an LGB a sort of abomination that they used to produce. Bachman I think did something similar with theirs.
