LGB 29272 Furka Bergstrecke

I had to look that one up. I have a Swiss rack locomotive with matching 3 axle luggage and passenger cars.
The cars in the set you mention look like newer developments from Marklin/LGB. Very colourful and decorative set.

Being in Australia, I personally would buy directly from a dealer in Germany. DHL shipping can be very good compared to most others.
You may have competitive dealers in the USA. They don't exist where I am.

I got excited about Walthers! That seems to be the case with most distributors. I've got an email alert set on ebay so hopefully one pops up sometime!

Sorry, I don't always read the fine print. Too busy looking at trains...

The product is not that old. You would think some dealer would still have one.

Production: 500 sets
Planned availability: May 2017
Initial availability: 29 September 2017

That's why I looked on eBay.de, you can normally reckon to find at least one of most things there, even with very limited edition items. The lack of any of these suggests that they must have been very popular, and those lucky enough to get one are hanging on to them......
Good luck in your continued search!

Jon.

This set seems to have had a rather complicated birth.....

I was interested in one of these sets and tried to pre-order one from The Hobby Shop at Faversham but he was advised by The Hobby Co that this release was to be limited to LGB Premier Dealers of which the Hobby Shop is not one. As I recall there was no mention in the LGB New Release catalogue that this release was to be limited to Premier Dealers.

I then pre-ordered one from Modelland in Germany, got an acknowledgement of my pre-order but heard no more from them when news came that the item had been released. I didn't bother chasing them so I assumed that I had lost out on this set.

Much to my surprise though, when I next turned up at The Hobby Shop for my monthly retail therapy fix , there was one of these sets waiting for me. All I can surmise is that. when first released they were not all being taken up by the Premier Dealers and therefore released to ordinary dealers.

When first announced I was more interested in the coaches than the loco bearing in mind that a loco of that type has never worked on the DFB but once received I was quite impressed with the livery finish of the loco - it looks authentic even if it is not authentic!!

If you are into getting a proper DFB rack loco (and have got some dosh stacked away) Kiss are producing a proper DFB loco which may arrive later this year. One of the locos being modelled is the one I saw in Vietnam in 1968/69 which was subsequently repatriated to Switzerland and became DFB 9:

The above painting was done for me by Jonathan Clay based on photos I took of the actual locomotives.

I have the black Ballenberg rack locomotive and matching luggage and coaches. Not as brightly coloured as the set above but the 3 axle cars are interesting.

The Ballenberg is interesting to me as well but I am primarily interested in trains from the Furka-Oberalp route. KISS definitely makes great models but the price makes me shy away from them. What I REALLY want is a KISS HGe 4/4 II but I haven't seen a trace of one in any online stores. I've seen great things from Ed's Gartenbahn as well but I just can't justify paying $2,000 dollars for a locomotive when I can get LGB locos from ebay for much cheaper.

I kind of got interested in G scale just slightly too late to get this locomotive set. BTW thank you for the photos KentKeith! LGBs color on the website always seem more muted than what comes out of the box! They need to work on their web photo color profile. Or maybe they’re renders/preproduction prototypes.

I did find a UK seller on eBay for this but he’s having trouble getting the eBay shipping to the USA to work. So maybe should give up and let one of my UK friends here have a go at it :)

I will never give up! What's the dealer? Maybe he can ship to Switzerland. I will be there in August..
