Hi I have just fitted a Massoth XLS sound decoder into my LGB 26813. It all works a treat but I have a problem. The LGB fitted smoke generator is syncronised to the wheels as standard. How do I link up the sound in the XLS so that the chuffs are in synchronisation as well?

Look forward to hearing from someone!!!

Thanks,

Mark

I do not know of a 'LGB' pulsed smoke unit??
But, for the Massoth unit, there is an input for a 'chuff sensor' and a cable with a 3-pin connector to go to the XLS.. Grab the Pulsed Smoke manual from the Massoth wiki, and you will see what I mean.

Hi yes I know that the Massoth pulsed smoke unit has a cable with 3 pin connector to go to the XLS but the LGB fitted pulsed smoke unit doesn't have that lead. It could probably be fitted but just wanted to understand how and where? Could I just tap off a parallel connection from the wheel sensor lead, fit a 3 pin cable and plug and feed that into the XLS? Do the polarities of the connections matter?

What is an LGB 26831? I can't find it.

Connection polarity will matter..
Have you any pictures, or model numbers, at all? - for the fitted smoke unit.

The linked-to thread shows a Massoth pulsed smoke unit..
Am I right this is factory-fitted, but does NOT have the extra cable(s), that come with a standard Massoth unit??

Unfortunately, I do not have a pulsed smoke unit here at present, else I could whip it open and give you the connections. :banghead:

Great of Marklin'LGB to 'fiddle' with the standard unit.

Mark,

This link gives some info from Greg's site, but it is a little out of date..
I would guess, a combination of the info in the two (XLS and Pulsed Smoke) manuals, plus the above, and what you have already, will solve this for you??
There is also a manual for the Chuff Sensor (Hall effect sensor) on the Massoth site.. I doubt Marklin have 'messed' with this..??

You should be able to tap into the existing wheel sensor but you will only need 2 out of the 3 connections (GND + CLK) from the XLS

My guess it will be the Massoth unit, so download the manual from the Massoth site.

If so, it will have a lead with a 3-pin connector, which is plugged into the smoke unit.

Hope this helps?

Hi I just thought i would plug the existing wheel sensor lead straight into the XLS to check that it did indeed syncronise the sound. Despite setting CV195 to 1 it does not work? Any idea's please?

I have now done a complete reset factory setting on the XLS and when I plug the existing LGB fitted wheel sensor into the XLS I cannot get it to synchronise with the sound? It continues to be controlled by the speed steps? Is there something else that I should be doing?

Hi all sorted out and working now. Realised that you need to set the min and max chuff CV to 0 in order to enable the pulse generator to function!!!
Thanks,
Mark
