If a few extra quid won't break the bank on the project, then Massoth do make their own little regulator (delivering 6v rather than 5v, but I don't think that's a problem in this application - unless Them Wot Know advise otherwise, of course!), and you could simply order one at the same time as the relays:


Phil and others, would that do the job? I'm assuming that the current draw of a pantograph motor wouldn't be likely to exceed the 700mA capacity of this unit?

Once again, there are much cheaper ways of doing the same thing, BUT if you're not particularly experienced with such things then it can be worth spending a little extra just to get something that can be wired up easily with a screwdriver, has known compatibility and comes with actual instructions....!

I'll hand this over now to the X-spurts for further comment! ;)

Well-done Jon! - I was looking for that regulator, but missed it on the GRO site.

That will be fine..

I chose 'standard' components for just that reason. - Easily obtainable. Screwdriver installation. Instructions for the specific installation..

The Massoth Wiki (as was, there seems to be yet-another different arrangement) has information on doing the conversion..
I do wish they would decide just how they are going to present the information, and leave it alone! :banghead:

All the links I have seem not to work.. I end up spending more time searching for the info, than doing the job!
 
Thank you so much to all of you who have help d out with this, particularly PhilP and Zerogee. I'm confident now I can do this so will order the parts . Brilliant.
