Hello
Just recently i purchased the loco above in the title but got it home to give it a run and it's making a very lound and noticible "Buzz" It comes from the tender but if i take it off and run the loco on it's own the loco buzz's.

I'm using the massoth central station the newest one out with no firmewire updates as of yet (need to do it)

Also the front lights have blown out replaced them with 24v ones and still no luck...

Cheers phil

Hmm, the blown light point towards the electronics.
Is it fitted with separate chip(s)? If so could you test by removing them and running on an analogue controller?

Hi neil
Tryed that still no light on the front and its still buzzing but it's abit quieter than on digital
phil

That means faulty electronics board(s) or motor(s).
Could you unplug the boards and wire the motor(s) connection(s) directly to the pickups and test on analogue?

Hi Phil

You don't say whether your bought it brand new, or second hand. The buzzing could be wrong hZ setting on motor. If brand new take it back. If second hand the hZ most prbably the answer. Wud be intersted in your reply

hi mike
I bought it second hand...
Whats the hZ setting?

Only a guess here but if it has MTS 1 chips it will buzz

When I bought my 21261 it had been fitted for MTS by LGB. It had an MTS sticker on the box & a supplementary page put in the instructions. On investigation I found they had fitted out of date Mk1 decoders. No doubt disposing of surplus, unsaleable decoders. These buzz quite loudly & were removed.
