LGB 209????

55.5

Is Personal
Never heard of it before. 3 of them on ebay tonight. Come on experts, what are they?

No its definitely just 209 and they are small diesels like the ones in the MTS starter set...tooling looks similar.
They are also battery powered

Yes, that was the diesel option in the old LGB battery-powered toy sets, that came with black plastic track and usually a couple of short Feldbahn style wagons. The steam loco option used a simplified-detail version the shorty Borsig Spremberger/Kleine Dicke bodyshell, the diesel used the KoF shell as you've noted. Both have a simple battery drive mechanism running on just 3 volts via two big D cell batteries inside the hood/boiler, and control (single speed only) is via a forward-off-reverse switch on the side of the loco. Wheels are all plastic. From what I've read in old LGB Depesche/Telegram issues, there were a number of Chinese knock-off copies made around the same time as LGB were producing the real sets.

Ah, ha!!!
And I thought I had a 'something' knocked-up from a Playmobil chassis..
I acquired a Stainz, and a 'thing' crudely painted maroon.. even threw-in the 'D' cells.. first thing to run around the Christmas layout (testing!) to see all was well. - Gives the steam crew a 'what the hecks that?' moment to.

Anyone got a picture of one that has not been butche modified, please?

Ah, I see where my `creation` has originated from..

The body has to fit like this to clear the batteries.

Eek! A center cab D10 :o

Quick!!
Put it on evilBay.. say it is *RARE* and wait for the fallout! ;)

Seriously, obviously cobbled together from a number of bits.. I to had noticed the cylinders (only con-rod hole on one axle..

I have an idea to extend the deck of a Matra (or field railway) crane.. Put a motor block under one end, and try to motorise the crane functions.. Case of running a marathon before I have bodged anything, but I can dream! ;) :D
