LGB 20851 Mallet broken connecting rod

Thanks DoctorM, I will watch those, and likely buy them if they don't shoot up in price. Then as you say, I could buy something else that ends after them.

They are not actually a pair, there is one like mine, but right handed, and one with slots rather than holes, presumably this is a later version, more tolerant of wear in the gearbox.

My 25851 Mallet (DR 99 201) has just suffered a similar fate - a broken "rod" (not sure what the correct technical term is) as can be seen from the photo below:

On close inspection, it looks like the break was at a previously repaired spot (I bought the loco as a used item) so an option could be to reglue it. As the "rod" on question appears to be decorative rather than functional, another option could be to remove the broken parts (I'm assuming the loco will still function OK?), but have to say, I can't see how to remove the piece on the right in the photo as it seems to have been riveted to the other rods.

Ideally, I'd like to repair this and I was wondering if any of the previous posters in this thread have any spares they would be willing to sell me or if someone can help me with crafting an email in German to Model-land who appear to have replacement parts in stock.

Thanks in advance
Phil

I had a rod break on a Mallett I think, what I did was to cut a short piece of Ally Strip then used 4 very small BA NutsnBolts (2 each side of the break) to effect a repair. Painted same colour then weathered lightly the repair is all but invisible. That is why I cant find it to take a pic!
