LGB 20272 Heidi User manual

Good afternoon all
I recently purchased this lovely loco that I have been after for ages. Unfortuantly the loco came with no user manual which normally would be no problem as I could download it online. No matter how I try I cannot find a manual for the 20272 (sound loco). I would like to find the manual (or copy of) for details on the sound functions etc. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great thank you.
Take care all
Kev

Thank you for that, but I see it is for the 20271 which does not mention the sound functions of the 20272?
Thnak you anyway Gerard.

Does this help at all? It's something I wrote in 2020 in a thread called "LGB CVs and Functions" Post 6)

if you are talking about "sounds", why would you expect them to? Steam/Diesel/Electric locos all haver their own specific requirements (coal shovelling for an electric loco?) and it would be silly to "waste" a function number because that sound isn't appropriate.

For sound decoders "bought loose" (for self installation) Massoth recently (20th November) announced that they had added a complete list of sounds and datasheets to their website (though the links to the PDF datasheets are causing them a problem, at present) at Soundprojekte für XLS, XLS-Onboard, XLS-M1, LS, S, S PluG – Massoth Elektronik GmbH but, once the datasheets are available again, the ones for a specific loco show (in two sections) the function buttons for the "standard" sounds, and those for the "Special functions". Here is what the one for "Heidi" shows . . .

However, a word of caution. I bought a "Heidi" with factory-fitted sound new in 2006 (my only LGB loco with factory-fitted sound) when I believe the digital chips were made by Massoth, and the allocation has significant differences . . .

F1 - Whistle, signal on open line
F2 - Vacuum exhauster, brake sound
F3 - Whistle signal with echo
F4 - Conductor announcement
F5 - Boiler sound off/on - when turning on, coal shovelling is heard
F6 - Water jet blast
F7 - Steam generator off/on
F8 - Sounds off/on
F9 - lights off/on

(before contradicting itself in a second list, in the "advanced users" section)

. . . but remember that whereas an LGB handset only allows 9 functions, a Massoth Navigator offers around double that.

Of course, your initial message referred to "modern LGB Massoth decoders" and, in anything I consider to be "modern", the decoders are not made by Massoth.

I don't know if my contribution helps or hinders the debate. In time-honoured tradition, I'll just point out that it could be worth exactly what you paid for it!

All the best

David

After a bit of a search, I've found my copy! Won't be able to scan it until tomorrow, though.

I bought my 20272 new in 2006, well beyond "my price point" at the time, when there was no certainty that the bankrupt LGB would find a buyer. I think it was one of those models that, due to the bankruptcy, never got its user manual published as a PDF, hence your difficulty in finding it on line.

All the best

David

Thank you David.....that answers the question as to why I could not find the specific manual online.
Kev

It can be confusing as LGB sometimes only publish online the manual for one livery version but others are the same so you have to search for the code numbers of different versions of the loco.

We can hope..

But if the newer version uses a newer MFX decoder, then allocations and capabilities could be different.

I have to ask:
What is wrong with pressing buttons, and writing down what they do? - Though I admit, it can be difficult to work out what some of the noises are supposed to be.

PhilP.
It is the the MTS version, published 2011.

oh I have played with it Phil, and great sounds too .....but as a newby to DCC the CV values etc would be helpful as I would think they would be on the user guide.
Kev

Oh sorry just remembered I have one of these, been sat in a box for a long time. My user guide has the CV Values and the Function Keys, the Function Keys pressed on your handset are what calls the sounds. As you I think now have the manual you will see that CV131 to 192 can change the Function Outputs, but you mess with these at your peril. Some would say tis easy, I have been into DCC since around 2004 and would treat revising these with trepidation having tried and failed in the past! If you need more pages let me know and I can take pics for you.
