Jigstone building my latest project

How long ago did you buy your jigstones molds and who from? There was something going on at one time with 2 different companies claiming they owned jigstones.

Nice looking buildings, by the way.

Greg
Thanks Greg. I found mine on eBay. Seems they come up now and then. There is a German company selling them now. I will try to find the website. Or should be able to find it. I did awhile back but the exchange rate and cost of molds was to high for me.

Jack, I like those, do I get that you are casting in cement and sand mix?

There is a stuff called Vinamould that I first saw back in the early 1960s (it's stil available). A flexible thermo-setting, re-usable plastic. I wonder if that would be any use for making similar moulds, it works great with plaster.:think:

I would think it would work. You can put just about anything in these mold they seem very durable.

It would seem to me that the requirement here is for plenty of moulds so a decent sized mix can be made. Unless, I suppose, you're using resin that goes off quickly.

I use Cement All a rapid set concrete premixed . I have a bunch of these moulds I have been trying to collect them anywhere I can. They are a little tedious and time consuming but I enjoy the finished product and they should last for a long time. I have a couple that have been outside for 2 years and I can't tell that they have changed at all. Thanks for the comments.IMG_20170821_092619355.jpg IMG_20170821_092619355.jpg IMG_20170724_161245841.jpg

That provides me with another thought. Over here we have Postcrete, a very rapid setting fine concrete mix for setting fence posts (and it is quick!) I wonder how that would fair in these moulds???:think:

I think it would do great. The finer the better. But you want it to have the highest tensile strength you can get. You want the bricks to be strong. So they don't erode. I also spray them with several coats of polyurethane matte finish to see the grout between the stones.
