My phone contract had come to an end a month ago. On Friday morning I wandered out of work and walked just a couple of minutes to the Three shop and picked up an iPhone 5S - no queuing or anything uncivilised.
The price makes this phone something of an extravagance but as mentioned in the tablet thread Apple stuff is pleasant to use. I found the 5S to be as pleasant as expected. The fingerprint security works very well and is good to use. It should be noted that it can't read the fingerprint of a 6 month old baby. It does work noticeably faster than my iPhone 4. Overall I am quite impressed. The screen is bright and clear and the transfer of apps worked fine. The one exception being the app which links into my work network - haven't missed that over the weekend.
For us at GSC I expect the most important thing is how good is the camera. I think its very good for a phone but you can't expect it to be in the same league as a DSLR. I have posted a couple of videos - see http://youtu.be/VlqHyvxiZCM and http://youtu.be/GpxlnXgqtt0 .
And here are some photos

I must confess to cheating on this one. My garage and shed were in the background so I greened them out by adding extra bushes

So far so good but the panorama mode doesn't work well with a garden railway

Oh, an apparently you can use it to make phone calls.

I think these are pretty good results from a phone especially as the operator doesn't know what he is doing!

Has to be said - it isn't great when it is very dark.

Phone calls? does anybody do that any more? my text use far outstrips the phone!
Oh excellent pictures by the way. does the camera have a built in size reducer to post to the forum or are you still forced to download and re-size?

Mine updates to the iCloud automatically so I call them up from there. I prefer editing using the comfort of my desktop (old fashioned or what)

Yes that's what I do now email them to myself, just wondered if they could be re-sized in camera for less steps when on the road so to speak!

Doesn't seem to offer a resize option (except for mailing). I expect there are many apps for that!
