Inter carriage electrical connection doesn’t hold

We have a three car ABe 8/12 Allegra, there are multi pin electrical connectors between carriages. When connected the plugs are held tight and difficult to disconnect. This has been true for all four plugs on these carriages until today, for some reason one plug is now very loose and will not stay connected. I cannot see any damage and there doesn’t seem to be anything missing like a small spring for example. The plug fits perfectly but is very loose fitting, has anyone seen a problem of this sort and is there a fix?

Hm if no other practical solutions come up, a bit of plasticard with a slope at one end should keep things in place.not too thick, you just want enough friction to hold in place without putting too much strain in to pull out lest you dislodge any wires.

I will give that a try but the wedge will almost certainly fall out with use.

Try turning the cable around. - So the connector is in the other car.

Does the problem move with the connector, or is it the connection on the vehicle?

Is the connector on the car seated properly? - Not pushed back, or out of alignment?

Is the black 'corridor connection' piece seated correctly?

Hi Phil, I will try swapping ends, good idea.
As far as I can see the carriage fixture is not damaged or distorted and same for the plug.
I will try swapping ends as a first shot.

A very small ball of blue tack on the side of the connector will probably hold it in position; assuming you don't find some other fault.
