Two of my interests are photography & 1/12 modelling. I model something, photo it see the flaws & try for more realism, sometimes I succeed, sometimes not so much, sometimes whimsy sneaks in, These days not much new is surfacing so forgive me if these pics may have been seen before. even if on other forums, of which many I have contributed to over the years. this is one of my favourites an old disused quarryDSCI0205 (2).JPGDSCI0205 (2).JPG

And then with a 1/12th figure for comparison, figure not to realistic, as my anatomical modeling is not that greatDSCI0205.JPG

D Don Foxlow Some moss in a sunless location soon makes concrete (if that is what it is in the quarry) look acceptable. Not so easily done in a sunny location but old milk or yoghourt can do the trick in time. BUT never be tempted to water moss with tap water, tis death to it. Always use rainwater collected from a water butt or some other natural source.

Have you posted this thread for us to post some of our examples?

That was not my original intention, but why not, we can learn from each other

Slight thread drift, does that mean if I water my excuse for a lawn with tap water I'll off the moss

Well it may not kill it off entirely but it won’t help it.

It doesn't seem to have much effect on mine, I'm afraid

Much of my garden railway is disfigured by fencing so only a few options available.

Nice effect. How did you make the gabions?
I had bought some galvanised mesh to make a stone riddle/sieve seeing the gaps being about 10mm, I thought about scale for some gabions & coincidentally Sainsburys had used some in a site upgrade in Exeter just snip to size bend end wires over eh voila
