Improving A Bachmann Log Skidder

Richie I think you got the weathering down perfect. The skidder and rolling stock look very nice. As for rusting an engine it all depends on what look you want. Like beavercreek (mike) said do you want the look of it sitting for a long time then lots of rust. If it is still in use some light weathering and rust is good. A running engine would have been taken care of. I usually dry brush some rusty brown paint onto the rivets and parts of the loco. Then I take Krylon camo tan spray paint and lightly spray it all over the engine.
You cant tease me with a few pictures of your RR. I want to see more. Looks awsome.

Many thanks Shawn for your kind comments on my weathering . I think i'm going to take your advice on the loco weathering as the loco will still be in use will just add rust to parts that paint would have rubbed off like steps and hand rails etc .

yes mike....IT LOOK like it running in the south heavy lines......coz loves dirty and rusty ..been using just one colour on it..earth brown acryilla paint...99p per bottle from art shop......aslo details as well......one of the member say it look like pirate..lol

Red oxide primer came in the post today so more work has been done on my flat car for the log skidder . Just need to weather and put back togeather ,then start on the next one Have got a old Bachmann caboose from Steven which i will build into a logging caboose .

Wet and windy today so had a chance to finish off my flat car for the log skidder to sit on . Weathered the wooden deck under frames bogies and wheels with powders . Then glued in place crates barrel and oil drum and chained down the log skidder held in with wooden pegs . Finishing touches included weeds and plant growth in between the decking slats bits of wood and saw dust off the skidder coal dust from the skidders firebox also painted areas of the foot steps hand rails with polished steel paint to give the impression of the paint and rust being worn off .

Cheers Mike got two more flats and a caboose to do next , have just added some rust to locos wheels and nearly finished my skeleton log car . 2000 Coffee stireers for planking came this week should keep me busy . Will be on the look out now for some logging figures to finish the train off .

u r welcome ..lol.........yes u can copy it of course....yes my sand depot is done,,,,so im doing another project on loco....hopefully......waiting for lil critter to come and then i will try to modfied it into a switcher as rs-3.....or something different........so my kit of caboose is coming this week as i won on ebay.....it from narrow gauge company...lol
