I have successfully printed and assembled my first coal hopper.
This was atrial run to find any pitfalls with the assembly.
The hopper body too nearly 24 hours to print, the chassis components took over 2 hours and the wheel, brake assembly, buffers and couplers took 1.5 hours.
A long time to print but the end result is worth it.

That looks rather nice - A lot better than my coffee stirrer/plasticard versions on lengthened HLW chassis!!

HLW chassis are (were ) marvellous kitbashing bases.
I am impressed by both types of hopper wagon.

I have used these as a basis for some of my wagon bashes a good alternative to the HLW ones.
The link and pin couplers are especially good

1 FLATCAR BASE KITS NO WHEELS ……………OUT OF STOCK$ 19.95
GABLE TOPS FOR PLANK WAGONS…………EACH$ 5.95
1 PLANK WAGON TOP$ 3.95
3 PLANK WAGON TOP$ 5.95

I have purchased some of these flat car bases and they lend themselves admirably to 'bashing'; they are, as can be seen, not available at the moment however.
Maybe you could email the proprietor and see if he is expecting more?

I agree. Most of my early scratch- bashes were based on HLW mini series wagon chassis. Eg my Snailbeach hoppers.

BTW - when I heard of the demise of HLW one of my first 3D projects was to produce the parts for an equivalent wagon chassis - which I've posted on Thingiverse - 45mm gauge flat wagon / chassis by GE_Rik

Yes Jon, these are from a local source however, I have some HLW kits as well as some of these.
Must find out if any more are going to be made locally.
If not I will chase up a mate and get him to print some from the files kindly designed and posted by Rik.
cheers,
Ian
