How to post pictures from an iPad.

Here's how to upload images into your forum content from an iPad, using the current version of iOS 10.3.2. It's a relatively straightforward procedure and you can upload single or multiple image files.

I find it best to upload the images first and compose the text around them, especially if you embed full sizes images in your post rather than the default thumbnail.

Follow this simple sequence -

• In the forum threads message text box select the 'Upload a File' option, shown at the bottom right (centre option of three).
• This pops up an small additional option box offering you to: 'Take a Photo or Video' or ; 'Photo Library' or : 'iCloud Drive'.
• Select the 'Photo Library' option and pick, for example, 'Camera Roll' (note your selection within this option displays your content dependant on your own local file organisation).
• Select the image(s)of choice from the displayed thumbnails. Your selection is confirmed by a blue tick for each selected image.
• Click on 'Done' at the top right.
• Wait patiently for the image/s to upload and you're in business.

Leave result as 'Thumbnail' or 'Full Image' - as you so desire. The image and file size appear to adjust automatically to suit the requirements of the forum pages, so no additional steps are required.

It can be a bit of a faff inserting the line breaks and juggling your text around the pictures using fingers and gestures, but it's easy to get the hang of it.

Unfortunately the content became rather confused by the usual nonsensical grousing about the relative merits of PC vs Mac. Consequently any insight into how you might effectively use an iPad to add images to your forum missives was lost in the bunfight.

For the dinosaurs that might ask "What's an iPad?", the stock response is "It's simply amazing, shame about the price!".

PS - Figure assisted text formatting can be exciting and predictive texting using the onscreen keyboard might be challenge for those aged between than 30 and 65.

PPS some process allow you select an Avatar as well.

I don't have an iPad, but the local bird-life I have been calling a 'Grouse' obviously isn't..
Probably a 'cousin' of mine.

Thanks for quoting me, I have not used any PC for posting here in ages. Once you have pics on a Pad of any sort it is as said a breeze to post. PC's and laptops of all sorts I believe have had their day for most dumb (like me) users of the net.

As a dinosaur (definitely not a Luddite!), my main grouse about all these products is their size and cost. If you can cope with vagaries of IT, small pictures, the risk of dropping and accidentally smashing your link with the net, then that is fine. I don't even carry my mobile around when I'm working outside for fear of losing or breaking it.

I don't use my laptop much either. For me, the PC (with its' larger screen) is my main link with the net - used when I have a cuppa or insomnia. To me, a PC is a tool I can use to create things with - articles, booklets, photographs, models, spreadsheets, and more!

My brother is always on his mobile (even when visiting) - streaming TV or films, texting etc. They said Television killed the art of conversation - I prefer 'actual' rather than virtual!

I admire those who go down the DCC road but shrink far away from it (especially when I view some of the posts on this forum).

Just posted some pictures in conversations (screen dumps) that I made on the iPad and for the first time in ages got the Too Big File message so had to reduce them on an app that I have.

Dunnyrail, by way of a test here's a set of images that all seem to work.

First up a tree peonie, images is as taken and untouched. From my last import this am, about 7.7mB. Usually require stepladders to see the blooms but this was gently pulled down from the canopy and image captured single handed! Steady beta-blocker hand .



Lightly cropped primula about 2.8mB. Nice gunnera in background!



Standard peonie cropped to about 500kB. Nice water droplets, interesting foliage.



The system seems to cope quite well with this range of images, albeit a bit of a slow download for the larger files and that could just be our rather poor network link.

The most I do to process my images is crop them at little using the standard iPad image app.

PS Note than when you post images on an iPad if you click on the indicated image size (in the cc/bcc line) you will be presented with the option to adjust the size of your posted images. Sorry if you already know this, but lots won't

Not quite sure what you mean by your PS, do you mean when you Mail them? Then I do get an option to change the size. But till relatively recently I had to revise the size of all my pics from my Camera. Now they are all OK. Was only some screen dumps from the iPad that caused problems.

I just wish that the iPad had some more information available about pictures other than the limited options on the Edit selection, file size date taken etc. I guess I could get the iPhoto App for the iPad, but I am unsure if it would be worth the money.

Sorry Dunnyrail, yes I do mean when you mail them. I was really alluding to the way that the file sizes are automatically adjusted when running in 'native' mode, as I think is the case when you download them via the Gscalecentral forum web engine. See post #30 by Beavercreek on your original thread for additional insight.

If you want an app that gives you the photo data try Adobeshop Fix, it's free with registration. File size was never really an AppleMac thing, bit like the price it you need to know you can't afford it .
