How much gap between track sections?

I didn't bother given the tolerances I was working to, plus I used long lengths of track where possible and all the curves are R1 so there is a little gap at each join by hazard rather than design.
Now the concrete base moving because the bushes I planted have grown amazing roots really is a problem.
 
About a millimetre will do?

As I've mentioned to you before, I use the plastic 'dogbone' joiners on curves, which should space the track to the correct distance....
