Saturday 22nd March the Wellington Garden Railway Group had it's postponed running day at Murray Bold's fine Hereford & Gorge Railway. Sadly the postponement through almost all the WGRG members so except for Lloyd Dickens from the Wairarapa Garden Railway Group and my family it would have been a very quite day for Murray. But hey what the heck, we raised steam and had lots of fun anyway ;D

So lets get started with some pictures taken by Lloyd starting with an overall view of the railway from the house end.

Turning around and looking back to the house end

Continuing with Lloyd's photos we follow his Accucraft IOM Viking around.

Pulling into the main station, umm Hereford I think

Passing through the main station, Hereford?

And passing through Hydrangea Halt at the gate end of the main loop.

All above pictures are Lloyd's ;)

Then the staff and management of the H&MGR turned up and after a BBQ lunch Lloyd took this very unbecoming photo of myself preparing Manawanui for steaming, ably watched over by Murray :P

So now a photo or two of Lloyd's IOM Viking from my lens while Manawanui got to 40PSI...
Oh and not the box on the "hockey stick" - it is the control panel for the turnouts.

Then joined my Murray's scratch built NZR D

Awaiting to off, or maybe we where paused enjoying yet more coffee and cake ;D

Here's what happens when you forget to set the points. Watch out for Lady Louise's hot bits Murray!

Meanwhile by loco, Manawanui, steamed along at a solid tramway pace (slow) through Hydrangea halt.

Lady Louise (a Roundhouse Lady Anne) has regained her dignity and has set off to find her train.
IMG_1272.JPG

Meanwhile, now back at the main station Manawanui continues on it's sedate pace. :)

Lady Louise now paused while Murray gets her coaches ready.
IMG_1274.JPG

That's better, Lady Louise now with a train!
IMG_1276.JPG

Oh No, this is embarrassing! More loss of dignity for Lady Louise.
The result of 27MHz RC and a downhill grade ending in a curve…oh and Murray getting distracted by us :o
IMG_1278.JPG

I won't tell anyone Murray, well only those who look at the photos maybe. O0
IMG_1279.JPG

Oh the indignity. No real harm was done and normal service resumed in short order.
IMG_1280.JPG

Manawanui and Lady Louise paused at the main station for more coffee and cake after no further incidents.

And just to prove track power and live steam does mix, Murray's track powered LGB Spreewald had the last run of the day.
IMG_1282.JPG

Track power is only available on the smaller station loop, but that is still a comfortable run.
