Hello from the top of Cajon Pass.
Just got my first g scale train set, but I haven't put it together because I don't have everything I want yet.
Haven't owned an electric train in 30+ yrs and it was HO scale.
So many questions, so much to learn.

Welcome!
We do reserve the right to give silly answers as well! ;)

No question is to trivial to ask.. We all started at some time, and all know a little about a lot, so ask away..

Trying out and learning new things is half the fun.
If you have a starter set of some kind, that's a good way to start the learning process.
All aboard!

Greetings from somewhere equally strange but probably colder. Be brave, a lot of the folks here (there used to be some of the fairer sex) have been hoarding like squirrels for years and still do not have everything they want - and never will. Grab what you have, plonk it down, wire it up and run something: if this causes an inane grin you are on the right road. Been there, got the T-shirt etc

Welcome to the Forum, I well remember my Trip to Cahon Pass in 2000. What a place to see Trains.

Sound advice indeed is to just have a go. But would also suggest that you think about joining one of the Local Garden Railway Chapters if you can. Try to get some Tours around many of the superb lines that the members will have will give you great ideas. But do not be too daunted by the Big Completed Layouts, remember they all started from just where you are now.

My garden railway, that I established at my previous house, was the first model railway project that I had actually completed since boyhood - so get stuck in, get it running, then worry about the other bits and bobs :nod::nod:

Hey Chriskym, trains are great fun, way to go! I've been through Cajon pass on the annual spring motorcycle ride many times. Hope you lay it down (track, not bike) and get that choo choo going soon! This forum is the place to hang out to learn lots from these guys. But you must understand the prime acronym to truely understand their humor: SWMBO.
