My name is Greg and I am from the San Francisco Bay Area. I am currently rebuilding my layout following a flood. The flood was actually several years ago but I have now retired as a high school administrator and have lots more time to devote to the cause. I loosely model the late 19th/early 20th century area where I reside and through my Carquinez & Alhambra Valley Railroad.I have some experience with 3D modeling and am anxious to utilize technical modeling tools such as 3D printing and CNC routing. One of the projects I am just starting to work on is a reproduction of the John Muir house, located just a mile or so from my house. Looking forward to engage with this group!

Welcome to our diverse community! Your project looks interesting - I had to Google his house, although I had heard of the man. Look forward to seeing more about it (we love photos on here!).

Hello Greg and welcome to the forum. There are plenty of members who may be able to help you out with any questions you have.

Welcome Greg!
I guess you will be giving us advice on US themes? - We have quite a few 'American' (especially logging) railroads amongst our members..

Hello neighbor! I'm just across the way in Sonoma. Although I no longer have a railway due to various reasons I'm still keen on Garden Railways! If there's anything I can help with please just shout.........Paul

Just got the actual floor plans and need to scale down and all that preliminary stuff. I'm looking forward to it!

I would be happy to offer any assistance I can, although I am quite certain that will be a two-way street!

Good to hear from you Paul! I have a daughter who lives in Santa Rosa and we get up there quite a bit. We may even look to move up there some day. I have come to love the wine country, especially in Sonoma County, and I am working on creating a winery for my railroad. Might as well combine the two, right?

Welcome aboard from the right side of the country. This is the most friendly forum on the web. Everyone here will make you feel right at home.

Shirley, it depends whether you are in the North looking south, or the South looking north??

Welcome, Greg! I'm another GSC member (and BAGRS) in the San Francisco Bay Area (South Bay - SC). We may have already met, did you attend the BAGRS annual meeting in February? Do you run live steam?

Hi, Paul!

Hi, Paul!

Yes, I was at annual meeting and am part of the live steam group but don't have my own steamer yet. We probably did meet!
