Hardyard now has a dedicated shunting loco, for when operating in freight yard mode.

(It can also be a loco yard by changing the hard standing module between the outer 2 roads with a refuelling module.)

Thanks to Zerogee, a Kof Duo loco (with DCC controlled couplers) has been acquired that can be used to shunt wagons without intervention from 'The Hand of God'. The loco is fitted with both a Massoth L decoder, as well as a Massoth S decoder for sound.

This coming week, Hardyard will be operating at a BSE MRC presentation for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and St Nicolas' Hospice, followed by a ONE TRACK MINDS demonstration 2 days later....

Some 3 years ago, I wrote up a thread about the Traintronics Point motor that I have installed on this layout,

https://www.gscalecentral.net/controls-signals-and-electronics/dcc-point-motor-for-hardyard/

At the time I just wanted to experiment with a cheap £20 slow action DCC Point Motor, but I had it in mind to use it for Signal Control.

As well as auxillary switches for signals, it can also be connected to a push button switch, an option I plan to use rather as well as the MTS Universal Remote, and to control frog polarity, which I don't need for an LGB R1 point but could consider one day.

So I will be continuing with this thread as I refurbish Hardyard for an exhibition in December....

An update on Hardyard.

I have fitted it with colour light signals obtained thanks to Andy Worsfold, and also some buffer stop lamps, in preparation for an exhibition in Essex in November which is being organised by our very own Marshman.

They have yet to be wired in, but I hope to get the platform and centre road signals operated from the auxillary contacts of the DCC point motor.

The front road signal though will be operated via a toggle switch....

Yea! I have finally solved the problem with the signal lights!

I worked out how the home made PCB works, and how the relay on it is 'ackled'.

I have drawn a circuit as I have to incorporate a DPDT switch which turns both signals red for in-coming trains.

When the DPDT switch is selected for out-going trains, then the lights are changed by the Traintronics TT300 point motor micro-switch to give the correct aspect for the route selected.

Still quite a lot of wiring and soldering to do, but at least I've worked out what I am doing....

I always wondered why you did not connect the small track ( display ) with the rest
61138084818f4f919814efb34d781fa4.jpg
I 'inherited' the layout as built, but without the short track.

I decided to add a spare length I had at the time for 'static display' of other items. I only wired this track up when I converted to DCC/MTS....

So are you going to add a switch & some more track ??????
This would give you another business (front to model ) to add to the puzzle .

I was thinking about building a new layout with a double slip and a three way point, but these days, I don't get the time needed.

For now, Hardware will stay as it is....
