And a nice moss collection, too :)

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

I love the loco above the school. the scenery is fantastic - real (because it is!).

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Hehe, real moss :)
Actually the moss should really be browning off for summer by now, but been so wet lately I'll have to prune the moss soon :'(

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Great atmospheric shots, John. I especially like those taken from low down looking up to stock on the embankments. I think the background of trees helps a great deal too

Rik

PS - In reference to another thread, I suppose yours is a Field Railway

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Sumptuous as always.... :D :D

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Nice to see wee Jonny having a run out too and he's still looking good :)

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Superb photos John, as always.

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Merry Christmas John
v envious of the weather
and the railway is looking fine :o :o

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Golly I'm going to try and keep the standard up, and keep you a bit of sun on show as best I can over summer. And yep Paul trains are planned to follow our usual tradition of trains on Christmas Day, making a very Merry Christmas for me ;D

Today was Kaitaki turn. Pressure is up on the gauge... ;)

...and off we go :)

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

We ran SWMBO's LGB O&K loco (I wish I was allowed to weather it ;) )

Pausing at Punga Cliffs.

At this time of year late in the day sun sneeks into the curve normally in full shade at the northern extreme of the railway.

General view from one of my favourite watching position on the deck of H&M's playhouse. Though they are out starting to out grow it (not that they ever really played in it enough to justify the time and effort building it :( ) I wonder if they'd notice if it became a storage area for rolling stock ???

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Brilliant pics as always John, such a weathered line .

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Thanks Steve. :)

Tradition dictates that at least one train runs on the H&MGR on Christmas Day. While the weather wasn't the best summers day a happy hour was spent late in the day.
IMG_2268.JPG

And as Otto was really an early Christmas pressie it was appropriate to run it today :)

Apart from being a bit tricky getting the burner to light and settle it otherwise ran very well.

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

The sawmill, as you've observed was out today 8)

The whole sawmill complex looks the bees knees John

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Got a bouncy two-legged model marsup today for Xmas from No1D for the K&NWLR and could help think of those on the other half of the planet. :)

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Now there's a thought, a normally get a few animals at Christmas from H&M, but not this year. No Aussie jumpers out on the layout though, hmm no Kiwi's either, but then maybe they come out after dark ;)

Meanwhile this afternoon cleared to be a Simplexly lovely day. ;D

Always an enjoyable loco to run....
