H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Mind you John could do with a driver... :thumbup: or is there not space? Is it RC or manual? I don't think I picked this up on Garden Railway Club as it developed?
 
A short running session today, wasn't sure how long I had so it was battery power, and time the Dubs A got a run.

And in reply to James, Manawanui now has a crew, and I hope I'll get time to steam it over the weekend, and take some more piccies which will please Shawn :bigsmile: and me:laugh:

The temptation of an early Friday finsih was just to much today :bigsmile:
So another nervous steaming of Manawanui was in order...

Amongst the many things to learn with my first live steamer is getting good photograph with lots going on :nail:

Late winter has seen some proper winter weather, even some snow in Tawa (it never snows in Tawa!) though rather to wetter snow to attempt some running in. But then we had more nice weather again and it was time for more learning about live steam.

And as spring neared it was way past time for the old faithfuls to earn their keep.

which as a simple on/off battery powered is very handy for a quite no fuss run...well more like a steady walking pace than a run but you get the idea:laugh:

Now though we're into spring and the days are lengthening, but somehow I still end up running trains as the sun has gone down. So with fading light there was just enough time to raise steam...

Tomorrow is Fathers Day here, so maybe I'll get to run trains in the sun:thumbup: fingers crossed.:Looser:
 
John, your photos always amaze me. The line looks superb and your ability to capture it is great. Well done. It's all an inspiration.

Got time today to raise steam again, so much to learn.

Found at about 25 to 30PSI seems about a good running pressure, so into a 25 minute run we go, today in sunshine...

...still to learn the best angles for capture the best of the visible steam, (or maybe I'm just still to excited :laugh:)...

Shame I only had time for one run, but I was very happy all the same.

Manawanui continues to be the prime runner as I learn how the art of live steam, but not without the old faithfuls getting runs too. Here the Dubs is running a train while steam is raised, and the Climax is waiting to play.

Unfortunately my running sessions this weekend have both started exactly as the sun went down behind the hills, but we make the most of what we can.

No wind mind, so that's a plus, and as the air cools the steam plume gets better. Manawanui is pulling out of Kakariki station, the Climax is sitting in the siding that will serve the sawmill when I :impatient: build it

And so the day ends, the Dubs doing another run as Manawanui cools, and it was soon dark, just as I was getting right into the mood:brokeheart:
