Well it's been a while, I have been busy railway wise when life allowed but well you know what it's like growing a family. Anyway enough of feeling sorry for myself, and time for an update. Sunday was scheduled for a WGRG running day here at the H&MGR but heavy rain in the morning following a soggy week and we opted to postpone the running day for two weeks, hopefully spring will have dried out by then. Anyway ironically then the sun came out so a few locals popped around anyway so we have train running photos after all

Chris Drowley and his recently bought second hand Billy. First time he'd steamed it.

Ian's scratch built Hudswell Clarke

Simplex was working unloading log bogies at the mill. I finally got the log skids properly install during the preceeding week.

The mill watervat is now properly installed too (all be it removable like the mill)

View of the mill area from within the railway. The docking saw and shelter is another removable feature.

Christmas Day saw trains run almost, but not quite, the first time since the WGRG running afternoon. The Dubs A ran while I was on barbecue duty but Hannah wanted to take photos so who am I to say no.:) So the following photos taken by Hannah until I say otherwise

Puddle Pond

On leg of Y coming from Kakariki under the lemon bush.

Gingerbread on junction duty. (Move cat!)

Out of the top tunnel into Church Cutting.

Back into the steaming bay extension over Puddle Pond (must get the bridge sorted.)

Closer. This is at the north end of the steaming bay extension

Through the seaming bay loops

And after having gone around the return loop the Dubs A is emerging from under the aviary viewing deck to cross the junction at the south end of the steaming bay area.

Before we leave the return loop, trains alternate direction around the loop, thus if we turn slightly to the right from the above picture Hannah captured the Dubs on it'next trip around the return loop heading the opposite way.

Puddle pond featured quite a bit

After tea we steamed Ngahere. Hannah still with the camera in her hands.

On the Kakariki station leg of the Y (nice angle Hannah)

Coming under Junction Bridge.

Upgrade over Nina's Trestle, this pic by me with Hannah driving Ngahere.

Last on at Punga Cliffs log loading area with Hannah driving. Always a difficult spot to get photos as the shadows are deep even when the sun does shaft in towards the end of the day.

So that was Christmas Day on the H&MGR. It was fun, thanks Hannah :*

Just been catching up with posts. Great sets of pictures John. Really like the developments at the sawmill / lumber yard; looks suitably busy. The return loop has really blended into the scenery and now looks to be well established. I really like the way you frame your shots. Great to see sunshine as I look outside at the grey sky and falling rain.

Happy New Year BTW

Well it's summer and holiday time at the H&MGR only no-one seems to have told the weather it is summer, this afternoon it's turned positively wintry in fact. So the result is train services have been erratic instead of consistent so pictures aren't flowing like last year. Sigh. Anyway the Bush Jigger did run yesterday and I got the following photos to show you. :)

and

reflections on Puddle Pond.
