H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Jonny on the other hand has the chip on board, and now with LED in the headlight, but unless we sacrificed the weight block, no room for batteries, so it's batteries are in a match wagon....

Mind you we had to chop the weight block a bit just to get the chip in. Good news is it now just purrs over dead frog turnouts unlike before.:D

Great piccies as ever John. REally enjoyed them.

Can you help me with the chipping of the battery locos? How do you send the control signals - is it radio?

By the way, I agree about the batteries. So much easier than fiddling around with track power - for me anyway. We had some more snow overnight and I just sent a little battery loco from Evensford to Aldwinkle with no trouble.

Yep the Revolution talks to the chip by radio, it's actually two way, the chip sends a signal confirm the link. The TX/handpiece can store up to 50 loco's. Will take some piccies of the workings tomorrow and do a topic if I get time.

Ahh OK John. Yes I found it on Google. I assume it's the CRE-57000

It looks really good. Seems like Dragon sell them here but don't have any stock. Looks like the chips are £85 per loco.

Be very interested to read about your experiences.

Sorry for delay replying Graham, yep it is the CRE-57000. Very easy to use, nice clear display, easy to set up the chips, programing all in simple English display (if we could ever call the dear English language as simple!). I'll do a topic on the Revolution once I used it a it more but so far I'm quite taken by it.

Here are two piccies from last evening of the Jigger sitting at Kakariki in the mean time. We've played with the resistors for the headlight LED's and have (to my colour blind eyes) a nice old truck headlight glow to them.8|

The first with a torch light illuminating the body for effect, then it's gon all dark:-

Thanks John. Super piccies:):):)

Yes the LEDs do need a bit of playing around to achieve the best intensity. My problem is usually to try and dim them down because they are so bright - but then I am normally only trying to replicate gas and oil lamps.

A couple of quick piccies from a spot of testing this evening, Jonny's battery wagon has had been cut down to a two plank wagon and had a tarp fitted. Quite pleased how it worked out. Not 100% but will get better next time.

Yippee we had summer again yesterday so it was out with some of the usual candidates again, but I don't care, me likes em
IMG_2835.JPG

The entry to the lower tunnel was where the photographer camped out, first catching the Clmax bringing down the last load og logs (well okay the same load of logs )

IMG_2837.JPG

Then when the line was clear the Bush Jigger was send up to pick up the bushmen...

IMG_2839.JPG

Meanwhile the Climax pushed it's load into sawmill (imagination needed ;))

(Need to work on focus on the last piccie but you get the idea;) )

Both the idea and the picture are great John. And where the photographer camped out looks idyllic. Thanks for the breath of summer.

Been a different weekend, busy on home alterations and not a train run :(
But some Monday evening I just had to have some train time, or the withdrawal symptoms would have shown
Nothing special but it made me feel better.
