Buenas noches.
Saludos cordiales,
Mario

Hello Mario, welcome to GSC - I assume that the link at the bottom of your post is to an English translation, but I (and many other members) will be wary of just clicking on an unidentified link like that - please copy and paste the English translation in full, into the post itself, rather than posting a link?

:)

Jon.

This is the translation:

Good evening.

First of all, I apologize for the translation; my English isn't very good, and I'm using translation software.

My name is Mario, and I'm from Málaga, Spain, a city in the south of the country.
I've always had N, HO, and Z scale models, but although it might seem illogical, I don't have the space for N scale—which is the one I have the most of—but I do have a garden, and I'd like to try G scale. All my models are from Renfe (Spain) or some from DB. What I like most is steam.
I want to start with G scale, but I'd like to do it in DCC and, if possible, have my first locomotive with sound.
For this, I'm looking for a steam locomotive that's DCC compatible and has sound; in the meantime, I'll use a Yamorc YD7001, which can handle up to 3 amps.
So, what would you recommend, and could you also tell me what track you use outside your homes?
Thank you very much for your help. Best regards,
Mario

Hello Mario,

Welcome to the Forum.

PhilP.

Welcome to the forum Mario.

LGB or Piko track would probably be the easiest to source in Spain....

Hello and wellcome to the forum Mario. My Austrian father and Danish stepmother lived, from 1977, half way between Malaga and Granada, near a town called Loja. My stepmother passed 2 years ago, so ending my connection with the area. I made quite a few visits over the years. Me, I'm British and like most British people very poor with languages other than English :giggle: Lots of advise here. What type of steam locos and railways interest you ?

Welcome to the forum Mario, theres all the advice you could possibly need on here. Pictures would be nice, as they speak a 1000 words, in any language

Welcome to the forum Mario, can you please do your posts in English - Forum rules ask for this. I think you have done a link for English translation, in future can you make the posts in English and perhaps a clickable link to your mother language.

Welcome, Mario. Good luck with starting your garden railway. I attempt to have a garden railway which has a Spanish atmosphere on a metre gauge line in the 1960s. There is almost nothing Spanish available commercially so I either modify and repaint second hand items, or build my own, especially scenery. DCC is too complicated for me so I have unpowered track and battery/radio control :giggle: There is also a good forum called Trens.cat, which contains plenty of advice and ideas, though it is mostly in Catalan.

Mario, hi.

Creemos que, debido al calor extremo en el Reino Unido, lo mejor sería que fuéramos a verle donde hace más fresco y así podríamos darle algunos consejos.

We think that, given the extreme heat in the UK, it would be best to go see him somewhere cooler, so we could give him some advice.

Gotcha

Was just trying to make the guy feel welcome

Although the post that @PhilP translated suggests that Mario has tried using some translation software - did it revert in the forum software?

It wasn't aimed specifically at you.

Seemingly not and I for one don't see a link.
In Mario’s first post he did translator text that needed to be copied and pasted to be able presumably translate his text. Certainly not the way having pointed out the error of his ways in post #7. I wonder if he has any knowledge of Google Translate?

While I appreciate the need to point out the rule that comes across as a bit harsh. That would put me off if I read it if were directed at me.

though I understand your POV, rules are rules, and are pointless unless enforced - sorry :)

First, I apologize for posting this in Spanish. It was my mistake copying and pasting from my computer. Thank you all for your welcome, and I hope to learn and understand how G scale works.

It's not a very common scale in Spain, and to be honest, I don't want to do much with it. But I would like to have a couple of tank-type locomotives, like a BR74 and a BR86.

I know Loja. I go once every two years to get away from my routine and eat in that area. And of course, when I go back I bring back some Loja doughnuts, which are delicious.

Welcome aboard Mario,
Never mind the language, I like your avatar Betty Boop :inlove:
We like photos of your progress and our humour is questionable, lots of advice if you ask, someone will come along with an answer!
