Pity this is in the USA.. Carriage not so bad, but the release fee's would kill it.. :(

I know a young lady who would love this!

Phillip

i might consider buying a regular Gnomy consist and having at it with primer, and a spray can of gold, and , some hot glue and beads to make the young lady happy.
a few little xmas trinkets from a craft store , ie the mini presents , mini ornaments, candy canes, mini santa , tiny wreath, find a tiny bear , toy solider, mini rag doll, etc.

i think you might need a Gnomy box car with a horse or unicorn too!

While Gnomys aren't as prevalent on ebay as a few years back, patience will get you a few, i think.

phil I might add,
search for lgb flat cars gondolas with Gnomys
I found several on ebay ,
you can get the whole deal, gold pated , and a flat or gondola car, for half what that seller is asking

in fact, I just bid on a xmas flat myself in anticipation of crimbo and my LGB in the great room.

also beware, that gnomy set listed, I believe , is not stock, but owner enhanced with bear, decorations etc.

Thanks for the warnings..

it does look to be 'plated'? - Rather than a 'paint' finish, but the lack of a box worries a little??

As I stated.. The carriage cost would probably not be too onerous (on a small item like this) but there is still the 'duties' and associated costs bringing it into the UK..

I could possibly arrange to borrow the gold Stainz set, that a mate has got??

Phil, you're quite right, the set you are looking at is plated, shiny like the chrome parts on plastic model car kits which we used to build.

FWIW, mine arrived yesterday. Gold plated, on a red flat with brakemans closet-90 US delivered. Mint, in fact, it appears that LGB shipped these with the gold Gnomys wrapped in some sort of fuzzy, thick antioxidant cloth to keep them shiny. 20 years later, mine still is bright and shiny.

My spray paint suggestion....assumed....a young child as the recipient.....and.....that the overall cuteness and impact of do-it-yourself would likely be justified in light of the ebay seller's price. Theres a point, imho, that a child should have something they can enjoy , with little thought to such a high price. (the original Gnomys were had for $3 US when they were still in the catalog. Beautiful and charming kids toys.

Finding a 30th anniversary (1998) 41124 version, (which is what I did) ,together with a bit of trinkets and glue, should yield a gorgeous gift at a far lesser price, and, pride of involvement in the Gnomy decoration itself...frankly, a bit of ribbon, a couple of miniature ornaments, even if Hallmark or the like, and some tiny adorable animal, be it Japanese or Chinese in origin, or german, or, some tiny Princess at the throttle, ought to do it.
