Glyn Valley Coach In 7/8ths (sort Of)

Hi All
Ive been asked to run trains at the local Easter fair (what a hardship) I have a nice little scratch built 0 4 0 loco but no coaches to run with it so its off to the computer to draw one.I have some 009 narrow gauge rolling stock so i picked out a nice little coach which should look good.

So here is the drawing to date there's still a bit more to do but there is enough done to get started with the printing

the bulk of the printing will be done on my new printer which is an Up Box
so this is where Im up to now I will start assembling it properly tomorrow the floor is 2mm styrene with printed side frames wheels are standard LGB



I just had to see what it might look like behind Chloe


Looking nice I will post mor pictures as it progresses over the next few days

The printing process is not a fast one although it still can take less time from conception to completion each of the parts takes about 3 hours to physically print so all up the walls take a total of about 18 hours the sideframes take about 1.5 hours each, once its going I usually get on with something else like playing trains

That Up Box looks to be an interesting little beast. From what I see it can be got at around £1500 UK. Consumables in Black, White or Yellow at £44 a pop. How many rolls of Filament did you use in the making of the Coach?

Thanks for the information, on times..
I suspect a competent modeller could possibly 'cut and shut' from Plasticard in the same amount of time?? - However, the printed article should not have bits drop off in the future!

Not to mention cut fingers, and glued together with superglue!!

Hi Jon
The coach took about 300 grams or about a third of a roll, a I Kg roll in the land down under costs $38.00 or 20 pounds. I would not call the printer a 'little beast' Its HUGE as printers go its a 600X600X650 cube the table volume is 255X200X200 which opens more opportunities for building particularly in 7/8ths scale.

That Superglue!!!! don't you hate it when you put your arm in the bit you spilt on the workbench and when you pull it off

My worst was an 'itch' on my upper eyelid..

I did have a 'mild panic', as I was alone in the house at the time..

I now quite often end up with 'blue b*g-roll' stuck to my fingers, as I wipe VERY regularly!!
I have a large economy (is there such a thing) bottle of release-agent as well!!

looks great - it took me ages to cut out all the windows from the plasticard sheets when making mine from scratch.
I used Plasweld though for assembly, no stuck fingers or embarassing situations!

Hi All
Been doing some more work assembling and painting also printing a second coach I should have them ready for the weekend

the second coach the printing is almost done


A quick run on the test track to make sure that it runs smoothly


I will post some photos of the Easter show next week
