G3? GW tank

If you zoom in on the piccy you can just make out the words Garden Railwy Specialists on the box lid so I think you're right. It's a GRS G3 Kit.

Even easier than zooming in Gareth - sellers description:-
[style="color: #0000ff;"]"Here is a complete G gauge kit by Garden Railway Specialists for a GW 060 saddle tank. The kit contains a motorised chassis with a Buhler - type motor, flywheel and gearbox, steel wheels with hard plastic centres electrified for 2-rail, and all parts to finish - resin body sections, white metal fittings with a brass bonnet, transfers and instructions.. Thanks for looking and good luck with the bids. Buyer can collect if convenient."

Yebbut I'm a techie, we don't do easy :bigsmile::bigsmile:

How can you have a Buhler type motor

Either it is or it isn't - and I think GRS use Pitman

Nice work Mel,
Now for the fun bit (other than building, painting and weathering), deciding on a number and shed code.
Is it as described on Ebay, i.e. in saddle tank form? Were any allocated to the Oswestry area in your time frame?

Got some research to do Neil, but I have already found one at Worcester shed with the name FIONA chalked on the bunker. :bigsmile:

I've had a look on the net, it may well be an example of the 1392 class. These were scrapped before WWII but the similar 1361s lasted until the 1960s

According to the GRS catalogue it's a 2021 class Neil, the pannier tank with open cab. Many survived into BR days. I have a feeling Kidderminster shed had a few, but I'll have to check with my friendly archivist.

Mel, I'm basing my research on the photo and description in the link in the first post in this topic. This shows a small saddle tank with outside cylinders.
GRS did a model of this (ref CM1504) as well as a model of the 2021 class

Yes Neil, you're right - on second thoughts it does seem to be the 1392. To be quite honest I would have preferred the 2021, but for the price I got it for, I'm not really bothered what it is. :bigsmile:

It will be fine for shunting on the interchange in the pre-war era. What I'm thinking now is maybe a couple more re-gauged Thomas trucks to go with it in private owner liveries? :thinking::thinking:
