Sorry if this has already been discussed - I did a search of the forum and couldn't find anything. I found this great site that provides guidance on building cheap store front flats in G scale for indoor railways Easy Store Front Flats

I would like to do something similar, but outdoors. I have considered varnishing the paper/cardboard flats, maybe plastic laminating, but I suspect water will soon penetrate and destroy them. Has anyone come up with a solution to this that will stand up to the weather??

I coated all my buildings in the product as under , it comes in two consistances and is thick or thin.
Yellow Aliphatic Resin

Thin for sealing , waterproofing , weatherproofing , rot resisting

Thick for Stucco

You could try Laminating them and painting the borders between the edges of the build and the end ofvthe lamination to keep out the damp. I use this method for Station names and they last quite a few years before UV does for the laminating sheet.

Many thanks for the suggestion - all the references I find refer to the resin as a glue - just to be clear, you suggest using the resin as thin coat over the face of the building - does this give it a yellow tinge??

no drys clear and transparent. takes extra paint and you can stick laminate directly onto the thicker version. The thinner version to drizzle into seams Etc.
