Hi all,

I'm looking for as-new (pref. DCC) models of the LGB french mallets (24852, 26851) and mikado (22872) to be shipped inside / to Europe.

Pictures from Internet for reference:

Those Red ones are as rare as hens teeth, had one in my grasp at a G Scale do at Rugby and let it go. Big big mistake!

There was an SNCF Mike for sale at Nottingham - can anyone remember who had it.

I recall seeing that too, but I'm afraid that I can't remember which stand it was on either! Of course, if there had been some kind of show guide leaflet to refer back to, maybe that would jog some memories......
(Sorry, slightly off-topic rant there, will try not to do it again....)

Maybe someone on here took some photos of the various tradestands, the big green thing would be quite easy to spot?

On the SNCF Mikado, if you do find one anywhere, do check that it is a later production model - or an earlier one that has already been "sorted out" - I recall hearing that early production ones could suffer from gearbox problems.....

Got mine secondhand from Kent Garden Railways 3 years ago. There were a few for sale at the time, but this one was chipped and sound. Wish I'd purchased one of the others with different running numbers too now.

I think it was the stand against the back wall to the left side with loads of second hand LGB

How does one see if they are from earlier or later production runs?

I'm not sure which dates correspond with which production batch, someone else will have to advise on that - but you can always tell the year of manufacture of any LGB loco (or other rolling stock) that has the little round gold sticker underneath.... the sticker has a six-digit number on it, and the FIRST and LAST digits of that number indicate the year it was made: for example, a sticker with a 9xxxx8 number would be a 1998 build, one with 0xxxx1 would be 2001.

Trying to resist asking you if you would part with it... But maybe I can ask what you paid for it? :-)

Sorry, it's not for sale - in fact I'm watching a couple on eBay which I am tempted to go for. I paid £750 for this which I thought was quite reasonable. It's only got the LGB 65000 after market sound system, but good enough for me. I've got the Orient Express set too with a number of extra coaches. I'm also after another one of those.

It could well be SMTF....

Their whole stand was pretty much pre used locos, rolling stock and track, with some new bagged accessories. Some small locos, but mostly larger ones, which may have included a Mikado. He's usually at the Llanfair garden rail event in September. I bought an item from him at G rail, and almost a loco, but that had been promised to another member here.......

Tony Green had a huge pile of mostly new, and inbetween those was The Sparesman

SMTF - I think your right Malcolm.
