flat bed and lower flat beds,crates(scatchbuilt from FRED..TURNER) for me sherman tanks

Interesting thread. Seeing those pics of flatcar on flatcar of shermans does emphasise the fact that shermans didn't really give a technological advantage (although better than early brit tanks) but the sheer number was always going to tell.

Steven pretty sure they wouldn't be netted up most the time on trains.... even in theatre a train load of heavy equipment would be enough info for recon- and any luftwaffe armed aircraft would have a go at any train, assuming opportunity targets was in their flight plan.

hi cogglesrailway......yes it was very interesting threads about famous sherman tanks during in ww2 so i thought it shud be covered up in tarpin to stop the german planes spot them or either undercover german spy pretend to be normal tht why?....

i have to keep searching for sherman tanks to see if they been covered up with tarpin?....i m not sure if they been covered up in net???..ask richie to see if he know anything about sherman?...he did post a awesome picture of sherman tanks on the flatbed!!!

p.s.have to sort out the bodgies wheels knuckle couples aslo some weight underneath to keep in steady...aslo some details after,,,,,,,plus wood block chocks to stop moving around from sherman tanks ........aslo some cables as well.........

THURS...16TH DEC....windy day with raining all morning!!!!!......ewww.....

anyway been doing some bits of work....found wood pieces and aslo coffee stirring sticks as well......

wood piece....

check and mark out for the chock block underneath the sherman tracks,,,,

showng these pieces of wood chock block and aslo strips for the side of the tracks to keep levels and steady.....

so im looking for cables and aslo some small loops for the cables to be go through the track and tight it up.....

more will following later in the late afternoon.......do u think i shud have a name logo USA ARMY on the side of the flatbed??

sat....18th dec..........been doin weatherin and aslo some bogies as well.........
 
been doing cables around them to stop jerkin around while travellin it...aslo wood chock block on the end of the tracks....
 
ALL DONE!!!! will do some another one for tom tom howister gun and crates as well this week before xmas...aslo 3rd one is for loading halftracks with soldiers in it...hopefully....maybe another sherman tanks on it...wait and see.....
