Flascherlzug cars?

OK, this is VERY much a long shot, since if anyone has any of these I doubt they will want to part with them - but I'm trying anyway.....

I've recently managed to get hold of three of the five LGB Flascherlzug (Bottle Train) 4-wheel coaches - the "named" ones - I have the orange one, the blue and the yellow. I'm looking for the GREEN one (34076) and the RED one (37070) to complete the set (I know there is a later green one with no name, which is still currently available, but I'm not really interested in that - I just want to have the five named cars).

Willing to pay sensible prices, if anyone has either or both and would be prepared to pass them on in return for some hard cash?

Thanks - I know there are several European suppliers I could probably get them from, but I just wanted to see if there was any slim chance of getting them in the UK first - and I'd rather give the money to a fellow GSC-ite than to a dealer if I can.

Edit: just checked Grootspoor as suggested, they DO have the red one in their second-hand section, but not the green (they've also got the orange and yellow ones, which I already have, if anyone else needs them?). Nothing in their "new-old-stock" section either. Price of the red coach is OK, but they want 22.50 Euros flat-rate shipping on top. So, that's a last resort if I can't find one anywhere else!

Their website isn't always that accurate so he might have both items. I suggest you send him an e-mail.. :)

If no-one here comes up with any for sale, then I'll probably do that.....

I remember searching around for these 12 years ago & finally tracking the last ones down in USA (Trainworld & Watts). It was cheaper to get things sent over in those days.

Yep, it's those two in the middle that I'm after, Mike...... better make sure your shed is locked up tight! ;)

I realise that the problem about trying to get hold of these privately is that anyone who has the full set isn't going to want to split it up - I'm just hoping that maybe someone has the odd one or two and isn't looking to collect the rest themselves. A long shot, as I said, but no harm in asking.
So Mike, is the green van at the back in your photo an "official" part of the Flascherlzug group, or just a generic one that you run with it?

If you go looking in the shed all you will find is a load of Junk & rubbish. It's not locked anyway.

The van is a repainted post van. Not correct but will have to do until LGB make the proper one.:laugh:

If you're prepared to go to the other side of the pond there is a new red one in stock for USD99 at Blackforest Hobby

Thanks - trouble is that by the time shipping, duties and legalised extortion (sorry, I meant Post Office clearance fees) have been added it gets a bit pricey! Grootspoor's second hand one would be a better bet, and considerably cheaper. No-one seems to have the green one at the moment though.

Thanks to all for the advice so far, still waiting a bit to see if anyone over here has them.....

It took me a good few years to get all the set including the matching loco.

As a matter of interest what is the 'matching loco'? Is it the black U Class in the earlier shot?

The loco in the picture is U43, a black Murtalbahn loco. Not the correct one for the bottle train but looks the part. I bought this at the same time as the coaches from Trainworld. I've never seen one for sale in the UK.

By sheer coincidence I bought a U43 on ebay a few days ago and it arrived just 3hrs ago.
It is in excellent condition, the whistle is missing and the drop links were wrong way up but otherwise it's A1.
My first old LGB loco to arrive with yellow box and instruction booklet.
My fifth U Class, I think I like them.

The black U43 was introduced in 1971, along with three other variants of the U class. They were available in the UK in the mid 1970s but I feel sure that version was the first to cease production. I heard a rumour that the rear bunker caused problems fouling some items of rolling stock.

I will watch out for that Neil.
Thus far I have only run it on the rollers but I have two grey versions with bunkers, they are removable and the detailed cab back is revealed underneath, which haven't caused any derailments.
This one is intended as a Centenary loco to be named at a party in honour of a favourite aunt who will be 100 years young later this year. I do mean "young" she is like an active 75yr old.

Thanks Pugwash, though it looks like some other b*gger has nipped in and had the red one since you posted - go on, own up whoever it was! ;)

I've just been looking through the '96/'97 LGB catalogue, and that lists the black U43 Murtalbahn variant, complete with a special (removable) "100 Jahre Murtalbahn" commemorative plaque/shield on the smokebox door. Item no. is 22701. It is still shown as having the low cab and rear bunker, while the other U class in the same catalogue (black Zillertal No.2, 21711) has the bunkerless tall cab.

Jon.

My U43 came with the shield. I saw one in an old catalogue & decided it was just the job for the bottle train. I finally found one in Trainworld in 2000. It's never given any problems but I have removed the contents of the cab to fit an LGB sound box.

Hmm the "100 Jahre" shield would have been useful in the context I intend using the loco, perhaps with a little modification.
