Well the trailer has arrived, so lets chip it.

Start by removing the six screws that hold the floor pan ing.
Remove pan.that leaves exposed the floor bottom and the respective wires

In the centre is the battery box and a curcuit board the decoder fits underneath this.

Take out the two screws holding this board in and turn it over

On the left you will see the sockets in which the decoder fits and on the righ bottm you will see the so called DIP switches. Move the three to off.
Then insert the decder pressing in to postion

The decoder is now fitted and assembly is reverse of how it was stripped down

Decoder can be seen on the left after fitting the two screws

A nice touch is the snowplough which has a blanking piece to fill the hole where the coupling goes.
Lights on forward and revese. F9 And interior lights F1

i don't understand why do you chip it if it is a trailer?
You chip the trailer to get the lights to go in the correct direction, i think :nerd:
Its so you can get red [style="color: #000000;"]when the train is going locomotive first...
[style="color: #000000;"]then you get white for when the train is going trailer first...

a ha! i was thinking that maybe they are powered to avoid small scale propelling issues - which would have been a bit ironic. Make sure you get a video up I think this is really cool! I enjoyed the trailer less backwards video, but a dvt will finsih it of lol

The chip controls the lighting. Without it the red lights on the trailer stay on red regardless of direction.
It also controls the interior lights and turns the running lights on and off
See you are not confused now are you:nerd::laugh::laugh:

Hi Mohammed 55021 but it was a mk1 the onewith no back emf control. It needs this one or todays version as there is little room for anything else. If you look at the fitted chip you can see how tight the space is, picture post 4.

Phil: which decoder did you install in the control car?

I was hoping that somebody might come up trumps with a decoder that had blown on the motor side..

Hi Phil: I did the same thing, it is an overkill, but as you say, there is only that much space.

Rule 8 applies before any other considerations.

But do RhB trains with driving trailers display red lights? Or does driving on the street (like the Arosa line) change things?
Regardless, a very useful post in decoder fitting.

Regardless,
Certainly fitted with red lights but I have no evening shots of them going away from the camera, this one looks like they are dimly lit as I think you are seeing the bulbs rather than sun reflection.
