Filisur buildings

Hi Loco,
the buildings look really great and very similar to the originals.
I have the same turntable and plan to have it outdoors. I made the transformation suggested by LGB-Ohliger, see this link: http://www.lgb-ohliger.de/Umbau.htm...ow how it resist the weather. Cheers Jose

Hi Jose,
Looking forward to a feedback on that. The conversion of the turntable I have done is inspired by Ohliger and a few other solutions I've found out there. For the pick-up, I use a split square cupper plate rather than the split "ring" solution in the Ohliger case, this way the polarity will change twice during a full rotation with a short period without electricty when that happens. Apart from that the track on the turntable has electricity all the time, you can see it in the picture - the turntable track is in between the only two exits from the turntable.

There aren't that many pictures from the construction, but here's one from earlier in the process and from the other side (track side).

We were going to try opaque Perspex with led's drilled into the top as a homebuild on Neil's Arosa layout. Never got round to it but the theory is good though.

Going back briefly to the which way round for Containers, my contact is going to check but hasn't heard of such a requirement except on the lorry part of the trip and that's to make the doors accessible at the back.

Built some more...

The bells are kits from Baumann, benches from Pola and the figures from Preiser

Absolutely superb! my Harz one needs some detailing to come anywhere near that.

As to the containers on wagons they can be either way round the only critical thing is the orientation on the lorries and they just drive under the crane the right way round for loading at the smaller stations. Thanks to Gion an RhB driver and author of superb book in the Albula for that. Forgot which thread this was in so sorry for slow reply ;)

Some progress on the roof in particular. Rain gutters and drain pipes are now in place. I have glued close to 1300 roof tiles to the first roof section and added a few other roof details. Next step is to turn the model around and work on the road side of the roof.

The large chimney in the back has a smoke generator installed, no electrics hooked up yet - still thinking about what to use to control the lights and smoke. I have a Ge 4/4III with 2x LGB 55020 (or maybe ...021) decoders to be replaced by a XLS, may be one of the LGB decoders could do the job.
