Fenland Light Railway running day 18 Feb 2018

If anybody with a live-steamer is at a loose end tomorrow, and fancies running their little live steamer on a nice big open air track, please give me a call via PM, or look at fenlandlightrailway.co.uk for details.

As you can see from our website, we are located about a mile NNE of the village of Ramsey Mereside in rural Cambridgshire. Entering the village from Bodsey Toll Road, make an instant right up Mereside Drove and follow your nose.

As it is a full running day - 1030 - 1630 hrs - with our 7.25" NG trains, there will be full refreshment facilities [great cakes - thanks to the ladies who make 'em] - all at a reasonable price. If you turn up, it WILL cost you a quid - the site and your activities on it are fully insured IF you sign in and pay up. Southern Federation Chapter of the 7.25" Society of Model Engineers and 16mm Association rules apply.

Is this all 45mm (or 7 1/4")?

Well, the raised track is all 45mm, and the ground level track is all 7 1/4". Do you have a 7 1/4" loco of suitably short wheelbase?

Well..... Not *really*...

I suppose I could stand with one foot on each of the power-bogies, and hang the battery / controller round my neck?


If I ever get any further, or proper batteries, is a moot point. - See I has learn't-ed a noo werd terday!

Also, there is lots of track in (what remains) of the shed... But it is all 45mm.
There would also be the problem (here) of making a 71/4 / 45mm crossing 'on the level'..

I could arrange to triple-head on the 45mm. - Three different road-number 2-10-2's and a dozen HSB red and cream??

Would just need to have a think about how to power them..

Be advised that the outside track is used for track or battery power, and the inside track for the rather hotter live-steamers - to lessen the likelihood of gibbies trying to grab them wihilst in operation, y'see.

The next invitation will be properly promulgated with the PTB of the Fenland Light Railway, and will probably involve 45mm gaugers in any scale, and that's all. I'll be putting something here, and on the FLR website, in due course.
