Fall running finally

Shawn

Hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing
Well after a hurrican in early sept and loosing power for 7 days and a week after that a tropical storm. breaking aug and sept rainfall records. Then an oct snowstorm that dumped over a foot of snow and loosing power for two days I finally got the layout cleared and dried out. It helps that im not battleing the leaves anymore. Fall has to be my faverite time of the year for everything but running trains ?#&^ leaves:)
I spent the last few nice days getting the layout cleaned and today got to relaxe and run trains.

Great Shawn. Glad to hear you're snow free and back in operation. Photos look superb.

Autumn glory - lovely pics - what a fantastic change from all the bad weather you've had!

Shawn,

The photos of the logging spur with no trains or buildings in sight are excellent. You've got to stare hard to realise it is a garden railway and not full-size

More please

Shawn what's the 'ballast' material used on the logging spur - it looks wonderful!
Some lovely autumnal photos - I hope to be able to get a few myself this weekend once I've cleared the leaves!

Thanks for the compliments everyone.
James the balast is crusher fines also called stone dust or quarter fines. I get it localy from the quarries, its limestone. Its good stuff when the dust settles down it holds the track in and leaves just tiny stones. It doesnt wash away easily.

Lovely, just lovely, Shawn. The layout looks very evocative in its fall colours. It is testament to the robustness if its building that it is still looking good after all that has been thrown at it.
How much are the Colorado model buildings? Do they come in kit form? Are they heavy (thinking about bringing a couple back across the pond)

Although the itinery of things that we are doing on our visit to NY has changed a bit, I still hope to be able get up to your neck of the woods to see your great layout live in the flesh.
Have got the train route details supplied by your friend and will reply by PM in detail when everything is more or less set in concrete. We still have the Grand Central departure to fulfil..........

Mike I am jealous you are visiting!
Could do see transatlantic G scale visits are happening. I had Madman round to play trains when he visited the UK!

Thanks again. The Co model structures are great kits. You can even add and make bigger buildings. Here is the site with prices http://www.coloradomodel.com/
They come nice a flat in a box. Wont take up much space. If you do get them and you come to my place have them shipped to my house. As soon as you you get a better idea of when you hope to come let me know and we can finalize everything.

Glad to hear the snow didn't last - You've got some great photos there, Shawn.

Great pics Shawn (I may have posted these comments elsewhere by the way). It is always pleasurable to view your railroad - come rain, snow or sunshine.
For those who knew, or of knew of, the late Cyril Freezer, Shawn seems to have the same knack of taking pics whilst hanging upside down. The difference being Cyril's foothold was usually the ceiling (he mainly took photos of the smaller scales) whereas Shawn has tree limbs for an anchor.

Your pictures are a great pleasure to the eye Shawn as always.
