I connected the power output socket on the rear of a DCC engine to the lights in a carriage it pulls.
Going forward with the engine lights enabled (9) the carriage lights came on, when I put the engine into reverse the carriage lights went out but the engine lights including the cab light stayed on.

Anyone know the answer to this please.

Hi Greg,

it is the modern version of the LGB spreewald.
It has factory fitted DCC.
The power outlet is on the rear of the engine, accessed by removing the small plastic covering.

More than likely LGB assumption that the lights only be on in coaches when engine moving forwards. Likely shows up somewhere on a CV and possibly changeable.

Analogue loco's give track-power from these sockets..
DCC equipped loco's can be a lot more variabke:
Could be 'raw' track-power.
Could be rectified DC out of the decoder.
Could be 'decoder +' with a function (aux) output for the negative.

I would hope it is a separate function output, so you can adjust the functionality. But it will require a little investigation to find it.
I would read the various lighting and aux function CV's, and work it out from there..
